The abortion issue is much like both the gun issue and the atheist issue, too many good people, especially politicians and the media, are afraid to speak the truth of the matter for fear of losing friendships, votes or share.
The recent Planned Parenthood videos are much like the media now reporting any illegal Mexican immigrant doing something awful. Too often our emotions run policy even when it is statistically irrelevant.
You won’t find much bravery on this one, in fact the only one I have seen speak out so far is Sarah Silverman. Here! Hear!
Abortion is still legal in the great U.S of A. It would be insane not to use fetal tissue 4 science & education in such cases. #StandwithPP
With that said, let’s go through all this again:
- Forcing a woman to have a child she does not want is the single most grievous government intrusion into personal liberty and freedom other than execution and incarceration.
- There is no federal funding of Planned Parenthood for abortions, so defunding it will only cause women more breast cancer and less birth control making for more abortions.
- A fetus is not a baby or a person but a potential person trumped by the right’s of a real person.
- Roe v Wade became law because of the death and destruction illegal abortions caused women, women we knew.
- Almost as many women had abortions before they were legal as after and there is no reason to believe that will change now.
- Wealthy and middle class women will always be able to get safe abortions, it is only the poor, the young, minorities and college girls who will end up with the coat hangers, suicides and cut up in motel rooms.
- The death penalty is far more horrific than an abortion.
- 80% of Americans want to keep abortion legal.
- The same people against abortion are also against birth control, universal health care, and government support of single mothers and their children.
- In the years leading up to Roe it was protestant religion that lobbied for safe legal abortions until Jerry Falwell and Ronald Reagan brought it into the realm of conservative politics. The government is not only the problem but it also murders babies.
- Fetal tissue research could very well find the cure to alzheimer’s which would be the magic bullet to save Medicare.
- Neither Jesus nor the bible have anything to say about abortion.
- Cecil the lion is more human and self aware than a fetus to viability.
