Adopt A Puppy or Buy an Assault Rifle?

House Sit-in, Fillibuster, and It's Still Harder to Adopt a Puppy than a Gun

In this week we’ve seen an historic House sit-in and an marathon filibuster to push what frankly, is moderate gun control legislation. The stony resistance of the GOP is astonishing when you know that gun legislation is something 90% of us want.
Why then are Republicans listening to only 10%? Certainly some of that minority must speak softly and carry a large checkbook – money which is exchanged for our very lives.

Susie talks to an NRA member and firearms instructor, who takes exception to the official NRA position on guns for everyone. This radical firebrand feels that a future gun-owner should pass a background check and have training – just as one does to drive a car. For that matter, it’s much harder to own a komodo dragon, get medicine, buy cold capsules, get married and divorced, adopt an adorable puppy or even sign up to do volunteer work than to buy a firearm!

Before you slap a bumper sticker on your car (making you a likely target) or just wring your hands, take Susie’s advice.  If you’re angry, do something about it. Donate and get involved with pro-gun control candidates. There has to be some way that the majority can be heard, and one garrulous man wearing a Depends got that ball rolling this week!
