ACORN… Can we say this in polite company… Acted as a "community organizer" helping the poorest of the poor – mostly blacks in our most destitute urban areas – to not only register to vote, but help with issues of homelessness, hunger and indigent legal help in housing. ACORN was a PRIVATE organization mostly funded by 500,000 donors with an added million a year in federal help. The average salary for its workers was ,000 a year for 50 hours a week. No multimillion dollar bonuses. They did not steal your IRA, your 401k, half your house or your job, but are the most vilified entity in America… Well other than the NAACP and the Urban League…
Even though the videos were proven to be extensively and dishonestly doctored, and the Congressional pulling of funds found unconstitutional, no matter, the black and poor is the enemy.
So this very white armed Republican fashion whore James O’Keefe – who is now on bail for felony trespass trying to tap a Senator’s phone – is at the top of the Republican hero heap with Liz Cheney, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck. He and the GOP have taken the high moral ground in striving to destroy what little help we give the poorest in our society. Of all the cheating and graft and dishonesty in this nation, they choose to single out one of the few organizations who help those who suffer the most and kick them in the nuts.
ACORN itself is gone, but thankfully the chapters in the largest cities reorganized under new names a ways back.
But that little creep with his ass strutting hottie is not really the issue. Rather it is the unbridled glee Republicans take in the destruction of anything at all that reaches out to our poorest and least white. Their constant battle against public defenders, indigent legal help while jacking up prison terms and the death penalty is their nature.
You may not be aware of this, but there are people – some you may know personally – who actually vote for this political party which is represented by Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber, Pat Robertson and James O’Keefe. I am not kidding! In fact about 30% of American really REALLY enjoy voting to hurt those who already hurt the most. This I am sure comes from following the words of that great British conservative Winston Churchill who so eloquently put it, "Nations shall be judged upon how well they treat those at the top."
