What we call the Chris Kyle murder trial of Eddie Routh is proceeding down here in Texas pretty much along the same lines as it did with Andrea Yates back in 2001 with the “straight up nuts” defendant soon to be found sane and guilty. [Though after an appeal Andrea Yates was later found “straight up nuts.”] Also keep in mind that the insanity of both Routh and Yates comes from them being dominated by Biblical demons.
The most under reported fact coming out of the trial concerns the arsenal of guns in play. There is a problem in that the trial – being covered by Texas media – the crazyass gun goonnery is mostly kept on the back burner. Because of this I had to pick around too many articles to link to get this information so I will just put down my count in the I hope that someone wanting to discredit it will take the time to come up with their own numbers and comment here.
Also understand that it is a 70 mile trip to the Rough Creek Lodge which Chris Kyle had permission to use whenever he liked, with no supervision, because he is a hero and all. I remember from my days with guns that this is important in regards to the beer and the bourbon involved which is what makes it so damn much fun. The area was so remote that the bodies were found only later by a hunting guide happening by the area.
So here is my count:
Two loaded 9mm semi automatic hand guns – holstered and not fired on the bodies of Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield
Two semi automatic handguns found on Eddie Routh – both recently fired, the murder weapons.
Two Colt .45 revolvers – empty and recently fired down range by Kyle and Littlefield on the ground near the bodies.
Five long rifles – Including one labeled, AMERICAN SNIPER, no info on if they were assault rifles but that would be a good guess hey?
That is eleven guns in play on this gun day, with these gun people in the gun world of Texas.
The entire arsenal – other than the one 9mm in Chad Littlefield’s holster – owned by Chris Kyle sat in big pile in the back seat of the pickup truck next to Eddie Routh to stare at for the two hour trip to the unsupervised shooting range.
Okay, a sniper who kills people – including women and children – talking on the phone or drinking coffee a half mile way being heroic in any sense of the word ASIDE. Chris Kyle coming home after officially killing 164 people and bragging it was closer to 250 with no remorse other than that he missed the killing and loved war ASIDE. Chris Kyle lying about killing two carjackers in West Texas which the police covered up for him ASIDE. Chris Kyle’s lie claiming to have killed 30 unarmed black looters from a bridge after Katrina that New Orleans police say is total crap ASIDE. That Chris Kyle was found guilty of lying by a jury for saying he punched out Jesse Ventura in a bar for dissing Navy Seals ASIDE. And he gets a state sponsored funeral and parade, a book deal, a movie deal, his wife honored on the red carpet at the Oscars and a request by Governor Greg Abbott that he receive the Congressional Medal of Honor ASIDE! The more I write the more disgusting this all becomes.
We outside Texas question the sanity of Eddie Routh? What about the sanity of someone who would load up his truck with 6 handguns, 5 rifles and ammo boxes to go pickup a STRAIGHT UP NUTS marine with PTSD and take him to an unsupervised shooting range to play with guns? Seems Darwin was at work on this one. It also seems that THE GUNS are almost as powerful a force for THE STUPID as is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
