Some years ago I was at wedding in Chicago. It had a DISCO theme. After the free drinking was over at about 10pm on a Saturday nite I got in a cab and asked to be taken to a blues bar.
Twice I found myself in the wrong kind of blues bars. The third cab drive I asked to be taken to a "Blues Guitar bar."
That time the cab driver got it right.
I ended up at a place called the Kingston Mines in a residential area on the near North Side.
What a place! $5 cover and $2 longnecks with double stages and the best time I ever had in a bar.
Though I must say at the request of the Groom I had dressed Cowboy and stood out like a sore thumb much to my advantage. Both bands could not help but get me on stage for some sort of demeaning antics.
So if you like guitar blues like this video and are ever in Chicago, check out the Kingston Mines.
