Well, I listened to/ endured Rush during the time period of the election you're dithering on about, and for a couple of years on either side of the election as well. I didn't do it by choice, mind you, a co-worker had him on every day of the week.
It is hard to see how this man identified with Limbaugh. He was nearly everything Limbaugh is not. Working class (at times) mostly unemployed, drug abuser, more about that later!, extremely non-conservative in dress, demeanor,and lifestyle, and no aspirations or chance
of living in the world Rush inhabits. Still, oddly - he seemed to identify with him somehow.
I sensed that he bought into the feeling that Rush in some way represented a fellowship of sorts. Uppity women, (he was working for one - me),
oppression of the working man, (though how Rush embodied that, is beyond comprehension), it was easy for him to buy the idea that the world was going to hell in a handbasket due to crooked politicians, and to the ignorant, why not follow right along that they were the Liberal ones. No thinking, just find a way to identify with Rush.
I've implied Rush is evil, not stupid.
"Slick" is as honest as the day is long, compared to the machine working against him, Starr and Gingrich leading the charge, with mouthpieces like Rush deliverng their message. Each, including Rush has since proven to the
public at large that their stance of
morality and family values were nothing
more than words which the gullible swallowed whole.
BTW, just why is it that we're not receiving the Limbaugh broadcast from
a state pen? I do believe it was he,
who had spoken so many times about
useless druggies and what fate should
befall them. I seem to recall that those who broke drug laws should be
"sent up the river for life".

A couple of weeks in a nice rehab center, skip the slap on the wrist, and
the windbag was back on the air, no
excuses, no extenuating circumstances.
Others do not get this opportunity, as
they would have been handcuffed and slapped into the county jail awaiting
