Been following the McCain/Baghdad Chamber of Commerce news lately? Seems Mr. McCain and two other congressional heroes took a "stroll" around a marketplace in Baghdad to illustrate the Media's lack of emphasis on "truthful characterization" of the area as safe.
So they had the army send a company into the market ahead of them to sweep the area (if anyone was going to get killed, it may as well be soldiers that are getting paid for that kind of stuff). Then they had 100 soldiers, three Blackhawk helicopters, and a couple Apache helicopters ride shotgun for them while they took a photo-op to show how safe the place was.
And there are some that ask me why I maintain that our government is full of shit.
I arrived in Vietnam in July, 1969, and witnessed lots of the same type of activity. The US was trying to show the world how the Vietnamese were capably taking over for us. The US left in 1972. Saigon fell in 1975.
Now we have a guy that was in Vietnam, trying to sell the same brand of bullshit. In a war perpetrated by gutless weasels that were too chickenshit to go the one where he was a POW.
That's either world class slow-learning, or a fabulous example of politics making strange bedfellows.
The bu$h regime doesn't care what anyone thinks. WE all know that. Until veterans and the rest of the country takes to the streets of Washington, DC and shut it down, bu$h will not listen.
AS far as deserters, they missed on. But, I just happen to have his address.
