Wednesday was the last day that the sleek black limo "brothel bus" would bring their wares and the party to the customer. It will now belong to the Miami Beach Police, due to a crackdown on prostitution, with undercover police on board. I suspect they've had their eye on impounding the luxurious bus for some time, and probably did a few rounds of "Rock , Paper, Scissors" to decide who would ride along gathering evidence.
No ordinary limo bus, it was a familiar sight as it cruised Miami Beach and was popular among tourists and club-goers, offering rides and unlimited drinks for $40. Also on board were women stripped down to g-strings stuffed with cash, offering to perform sex acts. Lap dances were also on tap, as was oral sex for $100.
No word on how long the undercover investigators took to crack this case. The entire citywide crackdown yielded a total of 75 arrests, including the employees and customers of the bus. If it sounds like a drop in the bucket, you're not alone in your conclusion.
I thought it was interesting that in researching this story, I came across almost as many photos of
politicians in scandal, as I did prostitutes of every rank.
Love it or hate it, prostitution is one of the ages-old things which are here to stay. Much like the legalized brothels in Nevada, the bus offered an improvement over street walking for the girls, perhaps some safety in numbers, and also curbside convenience - a rare thing in business these days.
