The main stream media, in this case the Houston Chronicle (which is a moderate Republican newspaper), cannot take issue with either the religious intolerance, the racist nature or the bloodthirsty gungoonery that runs through the genetic makeup of the the majority of its readership. With the Joe Horn case they express their distaste in terms of vigilantism and the rule of law. Here is an except, the entire editorial is here License to kill - Clearing Joe Horn doesn't make law-abiding Texans any safer:
Texas tradition and the letter of the law protected 62-year-old Joe Horn this week, when a grand jury declined to charge him for killing two burglars.
But the outcome shouldn't make other Texas homeowners feel safer. Instead, the shootings show the many reasons why citizens must not be judge and executioner in the courthouse of their own minds.
Exhibit A, of course, is the pair of pellet-riddled corpses, shot in the back and sprawled on Horn's neighbors' lawns. One can be disgusted by this taking of life without having to summon a bit of sympathy for the burglars...
Hearing ceaseless reports about crime on the news, then seeing it occur near your own home, naturally stirs up primal, destructive impulses. But no one is safer when Texas enables people like Joe Horn to act on those impulses.
Being from the area, and having many friends and aquaintences in Pasadena, Texas, I do not have to go out on a limb to say that in this case, had the two men been white they would be out on bail today. And if he had shot two white guys, which is absurd, he would have been indicted and facing charges of pre meditated murder. The MSM cannot say such things because even though they know it, they cannot prove it so they are not allowed to tell the truth, only the proven truth.
Though the Chronicle is not going to print the hardcore racist responses to this story, there are a few that do say things well enough. How about this one? Opens up some food for thought.
Excellent Editorial! - But......the next time two kids are stealing my political signs....I intend to go Joe Horn all over them. And the grand jury cant do a thing to me. Johncoby (online)
And of course the standard Texas crap...
Keep yours, too - Here's a deal for letter writer George Okamura from California. (Please see "Keep your 'heroes,' " Wednesday.) We will gladly keep our heroes like Joe Horn in Texas, provided Okamura and his fellow liberal loonies keep their "heroes" like Nancy Pelosi in California. ROD HUGLEY, Houston )
Who did Nancy Pelosi shoot in the back?
While I don't know Joe personally, I know the people in that area, and I knew the Pasadena police department. Come to think of it, I knew the Houston PD and the Harris County Sheriff's Department pretty well, too. I used to target practice on the sheriff's gun range.
Anyway, I knew many LEOs down there, and those guys have an historic and worldwide reputation as badasses, which is not entirely undeserved. Over the years, these agencies and officers have caught hell for various infractions against the citizenry, including police brutality and even murder. In more recent years, they've policed themselves a little more closely, and they're not so quick to clear leather as they used to be.
In fact, the LEOs in Texas kind of prefer that responsible citizens "take care of business," if you know what I mean. The LEOs can't be accused of civil rights violations when the citizens themselves are doing the dirty work. And I believe that Texas grand juries and DAs and judges also appreciate the fact that citizens are cleaning up the streets in their own way.
Look at it like this: Joe Horn capped a couple of bad guys — doesn't matter if they're threatening him or not, nor if they're armed or not. Fact was that those criminals were breaking and entering a neighbor's home, thus threatening the security of the entire neighborhood. A successful burglary makes the neighborhood a target — anybody out there in law enforcement knows that bad guys will hit a soft neighborhood repeatedly.
So, Joe Horn capped these no-good criminals in broad daylight. What happens as a result? Two pieces of dog crap go in the ground. Horn's neighborhood is now officially OFF any burglar's hit list — no burglar of ANY color or nationality is going to invade Joe Horn's hood. The neighbors feel safer.
The LEOs are relieved that they didn't have to cap the bastards and risk a ton of paperwork, suspension, an internal investigation, and possibly unnecessary force or hate crime charges.
The DA and courts are relieved that they don't have to waste time prosecuting a couple of bad guys who would be back on the street in 3 months, and they're really relieved that they're not prosecuting a couple of LEOs for doing their jobs.
So, aside from the fact that capping bad guys is just common sense — it's the right thing to do — it also reduces the load on our overburdened law enforcement and judicial systems. It's no wonder that Joe Horn's case was no-billed... Even if you don't want to call him a hero, you have to admit that Joe did EVERYBODY a favor.
The only people Joe has to fear now are the hate-filled anti-gun liberals who have been making death threats against Joe. Nice bunch, eh?
Oops... This is that intellectual barrier that the gungoonery doe snot allow you people to rise above. Never occurs to you it may be you or yours next time.
