HUMOR IN UNIFORM: Today, the Texas A&M University system raised tuition for in-state students to $3900 per semester. Looks like my kid isn't gonna be in the Corps of Cadets after all. There goes the catchy bumper sticker that says "My Money and my son go to College Station." Maybe the Marines will take him and I can get a custom SUV bumpersticker that says "My tax dollars and kid go to Iraq" ... yuck yuch!
LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES: Last night, Roy Lee Pippin was executed by lethal injection by the state of Texas for the fatal shootings of two cousins over missing drug money. It was the second execution in as many days by the state, which unfortunately isn't a record here in the Lone Star State ... BWAHA HA!
LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE: Ain't that the truth? Universal Health plans be damned. An apple a day is good medicine too -- Texans have no need for medical science or smart guys treating them. Just north of Houston in the ever-growing Tomball city limits, you got less dental visits per year than trips to all those chiropractor offices ... quack quack!
The truth isn't funny, but then again, have you looked at Reader's Digest lately?

A February poll showed the majority of Iraqis' believe things where better under Saddam and that it is okay to kill American soldiers. And if that poll had not included the Kurdish North, it would have been two thirds of Iraqis' feeling that way.
Ayatollah George gave a rousing war speech today! Take no prisoners! Kill them all! Jack it up! Fight on harder and forever no matter the cost! All based upon him once again throwing out his troublesome religious rhetoric, "pure evil" responding to the terrorists who recently used two children as cover for a car bomb, detonating it with the kids inside. He went on with his "no matter the cost", we must "defeat evil" or they will swim the Atlantic and murder all our children. The reason he insists upon spilling so much "non-bush blood" is because we are winning the war in Iraq. One has to lean way back to ponder all that on not a few levels.

The Hammer revives an urban myth
More on Tom DeLay's book attacking the "slimy" Clintons. Some urban legends, like spitting on Vietnam Veterans can be proven false but if people want to believe, they are going to believe no matter.

Is Rush Limbaugh Irrelevant?
Rush is going out of favor with both listeners and the GOP. Sean Hannity is moving up and will soon surpass him as the top radio host in America. Not to adorn the Pig of Propaganda, but he is a smart guy being replaced by a boob. Which tells us something about where the Right is going and where they belong.

Are things changing so much that a nationally elected politician can claim no belief in God for the first time in American History?

Tom DeLay, my personal old congressional representative is getting great exposure for his new book, "No Retreat, No Surrender," which is about the silliest book ever written. [for THE silliest book ever written click here). Simply put, this book is about everyone being wrong but Tom DeLay.
One of the silliest areas has DeLay admitting his ubitquous wife cheating in both Texas and his first years in Washington. How he would "drink 10 to 12 martinis" and have so much hot tube sex he gained the name "Hot Tub Tom" throughout the Beltway. He then goes on to call Bill Clinton "slimy" for his sexual dalliances.
The most serious part of the book is when he finishes blaming everyone else (including Newt Gingrich) for just about everything, he says of fellow Right-wing loon Dick Armey, "He is a gifted man, but a man so blinded by ambition as to be useless to the cause. Beware the man drunk with ambition." On the surface one is astounded at the stones for this man claiming "blind ambition" on anyone else, but taken in context this is the statement that best defines Tom Delay."
Though the Iraq War was the deciding factor in the last election, it was (and still is) DeLay who is most responsible for the fall (and still falling) Republican Party. Though the Abramoff Affair was about Jack Abramoff and Ralph Reed ripping off a few Indian Tribes, the court proceedings and follow up press gave us Tom DeLay's play book, step by step.
This ultimate True Believer is after one thing, the creation of a one party conservative Christian nation, which he will go to any swarmy means to arrive at. DeLay is right about Armey in his quote, DeLay's ambition though blind, is not about himself, but rather turning America into a Right-wing Theocracy. I know how cliche that sounds, but there is no way around it, that is the essence of the blind ambition, the cause, man and the plan.
DeLay was smart and swarmy enough to find the road to enact his dream, take control of K-Street. The Washington lobbyists, where most all election money comes from (statistically, those with the most TV ads win). This is a brief outline of how he did it. It happened within days of his becoming House Majority Whip in the 1994 Gingrich Revolution. He let it be known loudly and publicly that if K-Street wanted to gain the favor of the new very conservative congress, in which he personally controlled the venue, they would abide by his rules:
1) Lobbyists would henceforth halt payments to any liberal or Democrat causes.
2) Lobbyists would donate heavily to a list of Right-wing organizations and PACS which DeLay drew up and gave them.
3) Lobbyists with employment openings would hire only conservatives named by DeLay.
Within months, K-Street did his bidding and Tom Delay had control of most of the election money in America. He and the GOP held that power until just before the 2006 election when the Abbramoff Affair became common knowledge. His next game was to gerrymander the state of Texas to bounce most Texas Democrats out of the House, he succeeded but had not seen himself getting bounced out too.
DeLay is now out on his own (until he is sent to jail here in Texas). His new plan is to create an online organization modeled after MOVEON.ORG to make America even better than Iran.

Seems we are on the road to a constitutional showdown in regards to the firings of several US Attorneys for political reasons. Which is not illegal, nor is lying about it unless under oath. For six years the George Bush sailed through these slimy little political games because he had Congress in his hip pocket, next to his flask of Jack Nasty.
The Attorney's stories all ring the same bell. They were fired because of GOP political pressure put on the Justice Department because they were not prosecuting enough Democrats, rvidence and witnesses be damned! In the past 5 years US Attorneys have prosecuted 260 Democrats and 70 Republicans. One example should clear this up easy enough.
Randy "Duke" Cunningham, premier Right-wing loon in Congress got caught last year taking $3 million dollars for his votes. Worst case of congressional graft in American History. He is presently serving 8 years at the People's Hotel and Spa. Carol S. Lam, US Attorney for the San Diego area gained that indictment and the conviction. She was fired.
Both houses of congress are asking for subpoenas for members of the Bush Administration so the President took a big slug of Jack Nasty and regressed once again into his so successful BRING IT ON mode. He was on TV pointing his finger saying no subpoenas, no oaths, closed doors, no cameras, no recording, only transcripts with the Administration in control the venue. Senator Leahy, chairman of the Senate Judicial Committee told Bush to shove that up his ass. The House is soon to enter the fray. Constitutional Crisis! Where are the tapes?!
Almost 10 years ago I remember President Clinton, under subpoena sitting in that crazyass courtroom convened by every rabid Clinton hater in Arkansas to find out if his dick swung to the left or the right (no kidding). Even before he opened his mouth, I said, Bill, why in the hell are you sitting in that chair? Nothing good can come from it! I bet this isn't Hillary's idea! But Clinton had a problem, the House, the Senate and five political votes in the Supreme Court against him. Today Cowboy George can apply his personality disorder and swagger it out on this constitutional issue because he knows he has six political votes on the Supreme Court. Five of them already proved their political loyalties in 2000.
We are presently witnessing how the shift in congress is changing things. We are only slowly coming to see how 5 staunch conservative votes (and one conservative vote) on the Supreme Court are coming to change the very fabric of our society. If in the next twenty months 88 year old Justice John Stevens meets his maker, we are in really really big trouble for a really really long time.

Late in January, 100,000 people participated in a peace rally on the Mall in Washington DC. This week the estimate was only 20,000 but with the added fun of a loud, vocal counter demonstrations to "protect our hollowed ground" and "our historic monuments" from pinko seditious criminals. Not only were these fine conservative Republicans screaming "Commie!" while giving just about everyone the finger, they were also carrying large banners that screeched "GO TO HELL YOU TRAITORS!" and individual held signs poignantly explaining conservative ideology in just two words "PEACE SUCKS!" I found this somewhat reminiscent of my time protesting the Vietnam War and suffering getting pelted with good hearted beer cans tosses and cheerfully being spit upon by real Americans. Oh and not to forget the sign of those conservative times, "NUKE THE GOOKS!" Same pleasant people, same pleasant ideology.
In the 40 years since those days Ronald Reagan, AM talk radio, 12 years of conservative control of congress and K-Street, our fall into religious silliness and an electorate too lazy and disengaged to care, the dynamic has changed. In 1971 the polls showed that 60% of both Democrats and Republicans were against the war in Vietnam. Today in Iraq, 91% of Democrats and 25% of Republicans say its time to leave.
Over the past generation we have witnessed THE RED take over about 90% of our geographical map while THE BLUE receded further into urban enclaves. But last November's wake up call which so many of us had been awaiting for so long finally arrived, a dynamic political change is taking place. The Right is still alive and well, as horrible, disgusting, organized and populated as ever. What has changed is the now must not only suffere Democratic oversight for all their shennigans, but they have lost the affection of the no longer lazy and complacent independents and moderates, they have lost the electorate.
On the other side, with the recent makeover of The New Republic from mush mouthed center to a move to the Left and the fall of the concept of the "New Democrats" the Left has woken from its slumber. About time I say! More investigations! More subpoenas! More fighting in the streets! And let's keep it that way forever.

Jerry Falwell has that bit of Bozo about him, Pat Robertson we can see more than a bit of senile insanity and Ralph Reed got caught up in the Abramoff Affair which as we always suspected, proved him a crook ripping of Indians. None of this has been lost on Dr. James Dobson. From his Fundamentalist Christian lobby Focus on the Family, his syndicated radio show, and various other ventures in wholesale intolerance, he has taken over not only Colorado Springs, but America's Taliban political machine.
No clownish behavior or senility in this guy! He is straight forward with his delivery of wholesale intolerance and has made an art of destroying those who do not follow his staunch Right-wing bigotry. We have our truly evil people in Robert Novak and Ann Coulter, but neither of them holds any sway over anything at all, while Ayatollah Dobson has the power of tens of millions of dull witted Talibanies who he can direct to appreciably affect state and national elections.
Like most all spokesmen from the Religious Right, it can be problematic finding anything in their message that ultimately does not come back to sex. They have more sex on the brain that everyone in the Mission Street Boy's Bath House put together. But lo and behold comes an issue beyond sex! Oh my...
The National Association of Evangelicals has of late been pushing its Creation Care position, which states that protection of our environment is a moral issue for evangelicals. Vice President of the NAE, Rev. RIchard Cisik has been the vocal spokesman, and no surprise, he has gained the ire of Dr. Dobsomanie.
Dobson has gone on a rabid radio blitz and letter writing campaign to do all he can to put a stop to such blasphemy before it takes root, which sadly for him, it has. His argument is simple and loud, Cisik and the NAE are not only shifting the focus from the most important issues; gay marriage, abortion and stem cell research, to the non issue of keeping our planet alive, but also this movement is playing into the hands of every Godless Socialist Communist Democrat and Liberal PAC, Lobby and organization is what am. He is mad as Hell! Environmentalism is the work of the Devil.
Religion is not the solution, religion is the problem.

The headline is from NYTs Dan Barry on March 11, 2007 (link down so I paraphrase)
Roy Ratcliff, a Church of Christ minister in Wisconsin, Baptized and (at the request of the family) presided over the funeral of serial killer Jeffery Dahmer. Ratcliff is now suffering a resurgence of trouble with the not only the Church of Christ itself but is on the receiving end of quite a bit of hate mail and threats from fellow ministers and laymen who because of some national stories have become more aware of the story. Rev. Ratcliff has no doubts about the Christian righteousness of his actions.
What is Christian and what isn't?
Who is Christian and who isn't?
What would Jesus do?
And there you have the underlying hypocritical horror of all this silly crap.
