By the same political creeps in the Bush Administration who made it all political then as they have today. They also discuss his new book Your Government Failed You which is about how the Bush Administration has politicized Homeland Security... And the War, and Katrina and everything they can get their hands on. The Bush Administration picks people to do big complicated jobs not on experience or competence but whether they are Pro Life, Pro Gun and how prominent the wear their flag pin lapels.
John McCain's "Straight Talk Express" bus suffered a flat tire sometime around the announcement that he'd had a falling out with a couple of evangelical pastors, Hagee and Parsley, who according to themselves, are on a first name basis with Gawd and Jesus. This can't be very good for ol' John because being for their endorsements before he was against them will have repercussions with this base. It's been reported that up to 20% of Americans are religiously insane and with Hagee and Parsley withdrawing their support for McCain, one has to wonder where McCain goes to fill this void.
It's unlikely he's going to find much support among those earning less that a few hundred grand a year as he's pledged to make Bush's tax cuts for the already filthy rich permanent, anymore than he's gained favor with homeowners facing foreclosure whom he's referred to as speculators. He has another equally pressing dilemma in spite of his war hero status with military personnel by voting against the popular GI Bill which passed the Senate 75-22 and the House with a similar veto-proof majority. This leaves the racists and chauvinists which Barack and Hillary wouldn't get anyway. So, looking into the 2008 general election future with both eyes open, there is no way McCain should win fair and square against either Obama or Clinton. Unfortunately we've seen just how fair and square worked in both 2000 and 2004.
So fasten your political seatbelts, the road is about to get very bumpy because the GOP and their corporate controllers have too much to lose now that they've tasted the spoils of their excesses the past twelve years. Expect every dirty political trick and then some with the support of a compromised media punditry. Gawd help us all.
An article on a new documentary movie about Roman Polanski jumped out at me and took hold! The movie, Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired, mostly covers the legal case that caused him to leave the country and never return.
After the success of Rosemary's Baby in 1968 and the murder of his wife Sharon Tate the following year, Polanski was pegged a naughty boy. In 1977 while filming Chinatown a Star Mother fed her 13 year old daughter to Polanski who at the time was dating 15 year old Nastassja Kinski. Polanski admitted to consensual sex with the girl, the mother pressed charges, Polanski went to trial, the prosecutor was a Mormon and the Judge let it be known he was going to make an example of Polanski. McClellan, a Republican, has told the truth 70% of Americans have known for most of 4 years. That George W. Bush thinks with his gut, decides with his religion, and runs the White House as a GOP political machine rather than a place of the people, by the people and for the people. That he and his administration lied about WMDs, Valarie Plame, Niger nukes and didn't really give a hoot about Katrina victims who vote for Democrats. That they are more concerned with pushing conservative ideology than they are with the American people. Well Duh... I could have wrote that book in my sleep.
McClellan's accusations were about as ho humm as it gets until the media declared his book more shaking than earthquakes and more ominous than floods. One right after another the Bush politicos have come out from under their rocks to prove just how correct McClellan is when he claims the administration is run as a political propaganda machine. Its called the GOP "DUH$" Factor. Those who vote Republican are either wealthy enough to not care about much of anything but their back pocket, or too stupid to understand any damn thing. Admittedly a winning combination.
Perhaps I am too hard on the media in this case. After all, a Republican, a Republican in the Bush Administration no less, telling the truth to the American people is something we have never seen before and will probably never see again. It is the Nature of the Beast.
A CNN call in poll (which means nothing) just came in with 91% saying they believe Scott McClellan and 8% believe the Bush Administration.
Scott McClellan, the Bush Administration's Press Secretary through the buildup of the Iraq War has a new book, What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception.
Leaks from the book hit the wire this morning and the Bush Administration is none too pleased. McClellan calls Karl Rove and Scooter Libby dishonest, overal deceiving the American people with the reasons for war and claims the press complicit with that deception. He also points fingers at the administrations failed response to Hurricane Katrina.
Of course the book is to cover McClellan's butt for all the lying and deceit he was forced to push, but he must also be given some credit for the unusual aspect of a Republican being honest and forthright. Iowa Republican Senator Grassley has been gently looking into the finances of six Televangelists. All six have a few things in common, they are Pentecostals, they work from the premise God gives big monetary rewards to those who send the most money to these Televangelists and live extremely lavish lifestyles (which is what brought them to the Senator's attention.)
The most infamous of these crooks was Dallas, Texas Televangelist Robert Tilton with his show Success in Life. He spent a time in jail for his crookery but he's back. It's okay to steal what you want from not very bright lonely people as long as you do it under the name of Jesus Christ. You can even get away with multiple wives, sexual abusing little girls for that matter. But one must learn to do these things in a Christian manner. Catholic priests - Papists - had a different problem, though they had sex with little boys and mostly got away with it, they are known to be unarmed and not crazy loons who will shoot it our or generate mass suicides. So they are treated different, especially in around Dumbutt.
It so happens that Senator Grassley is a Baptist and the six very very rich Pentecostal preachers - which includes rip off artist Benny Hinn are saying it's religious bigotry on his part. I don't know, they both seem pretty much the same to me. Not quite as crazy as Jehovah's Witnesses but a lot nuttier than Scientology.

This is the weekend of the Libertarian Convention. It is being held in Denver at the Downtown Sheridan Hotel. 1000 delegats, most of whom are bikers who are required to bring at least one computer geek with them will decide to nominate Bob Barr as their Presidential Candidate.
If you remember, Bob Barr was the loudest and most obnoxious of the Impeachment House Managers. He had begun impeachment proceedures well before both the Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky issues were known. At the time Barr was going through his second divorce and was caught licking whipped cream off of strippers breasts.
Bob Barr is also famous as the Georgia DA who threw the most people in jail for the longest periods of time for the least reason! Backing such a person for President is only a small part of the reason the party is kindly called the Looneytarian Party. But mostly Barr is famous for being the top NRA wonk in America. You can bet the delegates are armed and armed well.
On the basement floor of the hotel is where the real party is. Political action booths, lobbyists, and if you can get past the UZI salesman and meth labs you may find what has gained them the most attention this weekend. The day after a jury sentenced cop killer Juan Quintero to Life without Parole, the fine Christian people here in Dumbutt are angry, bloodlust angry.
One of the jurors, Cindy Bradford, who voted for execution (obviously a Christian) went to the press to say that the 10 to 2 decision to not execute this Hispanic illegal immigrant was because everyone was tired and wanted to go home. Gary Blankenship president of the Houston Police Officers Union said he would lobby the state legislature to rewrite sentencing laws to add Life Without Parole and Isolation. Studies find that most inmates go insane after 6 months of isolation. Which of course is the point of the new law.
Talk shows and letters to the editor seem to have all been shouted or penned in large red ALL CAP fonts. This is the stuff of revolution here in Texas...

Ash Hussein the 22 year old clerk grabbed a gun and followed them outside, he shot at the car 4 times to stop them but killed one. "This is a day I'll never forget, I wish it hadn't happened, but it did. Someone died over this, that just makes me feel uneasy." Dezmond Blake called police to say he found a baby in his freezer. Sure enough, after police arrived at a weekly-rate Houston motel they found 6 month old Devin (surname unknown at this time) in the top freezer section of the motel room refrigerator. Blake, an African American male and father of the child, was about a year late with the call.
It was soon discovered that Blake and the mother, Crystal Sosa, had put the baby in the freezer a year ago. The only information from the couple thus far is that the child died of natural causes.
The mother had been arrested and put in jail for prostituion about the same time the baby went into the fridge. She had also lost another child to Child Protective Services testing positive for drugs. The father has also had run-ins with the law. Well he has a prior record of evading arrest so I suppose that would be considered a run-outs with the law.
Women with pompadore haircuts and frontier garb - with interior stitching made of prayers wishing for everyone in the world to be killed by God as soon as possible and who give up their underage daughters to old men for sex - smiled today, some for the first time in their lives! Yelps of "Praise the Lord" were heard outside the Austin courtroom after Texas Child Protection Services came under fire and the original judge in the case, Barbara Walther, was overruled. The process has now begun to return the children to the Eldorado cult compound.

There are a few heroes in all this, one being Carolyn Jessop who escaped the cult [CULT NOT SECT] in 2003. She was 18 years old when she was forced to marry a 50 year old man she didn't know or like. When told of the Appeals Court decision while giving a speech to help Texas CDS social workers deal with the brutally brainwashed FLDS children, her body began to shake and failing to hold back her tears said,
"I just can't believe they are just sending them back, that everyone can pretend that the abuse didn't happen. We have just lost another generation. I can only hope the the public will protest the court decision."
The public! It's the public who are most responsible for the appeal court decision! Judges in Texas are elected! Texans may not be very bright, especially out yonder in West Texas, but they are smart enough to know that the right to love Jesus is far more important than the right of children to not be sexually abused. Here we are at the same point once again. polygamy will go on, they will keep sexual abusing little girls with better paperwork, they will keep the competition for the little girls low by tossing out the young men, with all these ugly women behind it all. Because it's what Jesus wants. After all, who is to say it isn't what Jesus wants?

When the news broke that Senator Kennedy had a malignant brain tumor, Jewish talk show host and America's favorite bigot, racist and dirtbag Michael Savage responded to the news in standard hate fueled savagery. He constantly played a clip of Arnold Schwarzenegger from "Kindergarten Kids" saying "It's not a tumor!", played songs by the Dead Kennedy's so he could keep saying "Dead Kennedy's", and other forms of popular Republican fun.
Michael Wiener is the the third most listened to talk show host in America after Limbaugh and Hannity. He is on live early evenings from San Francisco. So few listen to him there that they just assumed he was broadcasting from Selma, Alabama.
This of course reminds one of Rush Limbaugh's eulogies of Kurt Kobain and Jerry Garcia who he called worthless drug addicts and good riddance to bad rubbish, and even more reminiscent of the 2006 election where he made fun of Michael J. Fox Parkinson's disease. Or going back to Limbaugh's beginnings in Sacremento where he gained his fame by reading off the names of men who had died from AIDS and hitting the laugh or applause button each time. Character matters!
One might hope Savage has gone too far and this will finally do him in after so many years of his filthy racist blather. Especially when it was carried on two stations in Massachusetts. After all, he did get tossed off MSNBC for telling a gay caller "I hope you get AIDS and die!" Which is pretty much what he is saying to Senator Kennedy. But that was television not radio, and unlike television, the more bigoted, racist, stupid, and disgusting it is on the radio, the larger the share.
There is some cause to wonder why that may be. Like most things there is no single answer but being from Dumbutt, I can take a few good guesses. Of the millions of listeners a week Savage enjoys I would guess the vast majority are very likely listening from those old 13 confederate states where they live so down deep in those hollars they can't get FM radio or even television for that matter. They are stuck with AM talk shows all day and all night. Well, that and trillions of Christian AM stations which pretty much push the same intolerance and bigotry. But what about the millions of other listeners spread out all over this fine nation of ours?
Well if you listen these days to Savage you can see that those he says need to be eliminated changes with the times. He began with dirty lazy smelly African Americans, then with 911 it switched to dirty lazy smelly Moslem's, and over the past two years its been almost wholly dirty lazy smelly Mexicans! So Savage is riding high on the anti-immigration fervor, mostly in the border states, and most mostly here in Dumbutt, Texas.
There is something to all those old racist groups we remember seeming to have vanished off the radar, but the people in them still count in the tens of millions. The change is in the names, no big populations of the KKK or Skinheads anymore, the same kind of people have just regrouped, with the help of the Republican PR machine, semantically changed the definition of what they are from "racists" to "nativists". They also changed the names of their organizations to The Minutemen, or the American Border Patrol, or what have you. Oh, and they all vote! Like 100% turn out.
Texas education has always been at the bottom of the national pool, the shallow yellowish end at that. As we have no income tax, and we squawk about property taxes more than anything other than the cost for a pallet of ammunition, funding education is arbitrary and unfair. But only arbitrary and unfair to lesser funny colored Texans so it doesn't matter much.
To solve the problem Governor Perry appointed Don McLeroy as chairman of the The State Board of Education while the rest of Texas voted for social conservatives (evangelical fundamentalist Christians) to make up 8 of the 15 members. Last year they tried to get Intelligent Design going here but through some fluke of the law failed. Not for trying mind you, for they had the people of Texas with them, just not the constitution. God trumps the constitution. Oops, sorry I generalized and that's not true, JESUS trumps the constitution.
So the board voted for a new educational process regarding teaching English. The new idea takes is back about 50 or 60 years to the time a teacher stood at the black board and droned out a steady diet of antecedents, articles, and what have you while the class nodded off. Instead of learning grammar through reading and writing and understanding content Texas is now going back to the root of mechanical memorization. Basics! There are two issues at play in all this.
First is going back in time to a "supposed" better system which is only verified by cliches such as "readin', writin' and 'rithmatic!" (which are all spelled wrong of course) and not to forget the one about us all walking 19 miles to school in a snow storm dodging tornadoes. The board discarded without review studies submitted by 13,000 English Texas teachers and national studies that show what is being sold as new is just old poo. The teachers are mad as hell which of course doesn't matter as long as we get back to those better days. Days were the sign above the water fountain said "White Only" and didn't have to include a "Solo Blanco" below it.

The Joe Horn case, the man who shot two suspected unarmed burglars in the back with three shots from a 12 gauge shotgun (from 10 feet away) is finally scheduled to go to the grand jury sometime in June. Harris County District Attorney spokesman Scott Durfee said prosecutor Lynne Parsons was waiting for forensic testing results before presenting the case to the grand jury. Durfee would not say of the DA office would ask for an indictment. Autopsy's of the man shot twice, once in the back and once in the back of the neck have been suppressed by the state. Conjecture is Horn blew the man's head off.
A few months ago this was a pretty much a no brainer that Horn would walk away with a parade and a metal. But since the incident in November the Harris County DA's office has experienced an earthquake of a shake up. District Attorney Chuck Rosenberg had to resign for porn, racist email and breaking the law. The entire department was seen as a racist good ole boy right-wing network to such a degree that the runoff for his position was between two women. Even here in Harris County the GOP is worried that they may no longer have complete control of the their style of law and justice. So perhaps there will be a token indictment, but I wouldn't put a plug nickel on it. Grand jury will hear Joe Horn case next month
The term "The Jury is Out" has been changed here this week to "The Jury is Out of Touch!"
A Houston Jury sentenced Juan Quintero to life without parole rather than to the death penalty. After the sentencing slain police officer Jerome Johnson's mother screeched "He deserves the Death Penalty!", his sister fainted hearing the verdict and his wife summed up the feeling in Houston by saying, "My Husband's life meant nothing."
The case had lots of issues within issues. Officer Johnson missed a 9mm handgun in his search of traffic suspect Quintero before he put him in the back seat of his squad car handcuffed behind his back. Quintero managed to get his handgun, get his hands in front him and empty it into the seat in front of him.
The police officer was black, Quintero, not only Hispanic but an illegal immigrant who had been deported to Mexico in 1999 for sexual abuse with a child. The murder was rather simple in itself as Quintero paniced in fear knowing the traffic stop would cause him to be deported, lose his family and change his world. Not premeditated, after all, how could someone premeditate a traffic stop.
So the Dumbutt, Texas angst is flying off the meter. Talk shows and letters to the editors are quite unanimous, justice has not been served! Justice failed! No justice! Justice no longer exists in Texas! Justice is dead! The end of justice as we know it. As Jesus said on the cross "This is Justice!"
There is some discussion whether the jury's decision was based upon the superior lawyering skills of defense attorney Daba-lynn Recer who managed through Quintero's family and friends, to give him enough humanity to spare him, or is it the growing unpopularity - even within Texas - of capital punishment. [Trust me, it ait dat!]
So there is some good in everything I suppose. It saved me from more blood on my hands and bringing Texas Whites and Blacks together in solidarity with that Christian thirst for executions while together pounding the drums of anti-immigration. Who knows, MLK's dream may come true as Whites and Blacks skip down the street together hand in hand with a rope.

"Foie gras" is the process of overfeeding ducks and geese before slaughter by pushing a metal tube down their throat and filling their stomachs with corn meal which enlarges their livers by a factor of 10. It cause the animals to get so large they can no longer walk and belabors their breathing. All for a popular "fowl" pate generated through the same means which humans have been enjoying for about 5000 years. Though these days is is primarily a French thing.

Being from Texas I have never before heard the term and I am sure most of my breathen are also mostly in the dark regarding high end pates. After all, not only is it a French phrase which is not allowed in our English Only! cuture but it has to do with fancy eating. We don't do fancy eating. Well, other than Chicken Fried Steak with Biscuts and gravy.

No immigration articles at all, no air pollution articles at all, no worst schools in America articles, no one was shot stepping onto someone elses property. But one hell of a lot about Barack Obama and Resko and Barack Obama and the Jewish vote. It's also not 90.

Senator Edward Kennedy was rushed to the hospital today. Thus far no hard facts have come by to blame Hillary Clinton though cable media and the liberal blogosphere are diligently investigating her involvement. Remember it was only a week ago that Senator Clinton said "white people" to describe white people! Execution scheduled soon.
On a related story to a question I asked yesterday, it seems the media will soon declare Barack Obama better than beer and bigger the Jesus.
Gov Mike Huckabee at the annual NRA convention in Lexington, Kentucky cracked a joke that even the lunatic fringe NRA audience found in poor taste. Addressing the group from the podium, Huckabee responded to a loud backstage crash saying,

Since 1988 I have been a watcher and writer of the Right-wing media and its characters. I have suffered through many years of listening to Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, O'Reilly, Hannity, and even Ann Coulter, none of whom hold a candle to this angry condescending nativist (that's the new conservatively correct word for racist) who has taken nationalism further than even Germany in the 1930's.
He is so intrinsically hateful and horrible that when he is on I switch to FOX NEWS to get a far far more fair and balanced view of things.
Our anti-immigration fervor has moved our new home grown federal police force ICE, closer to the old German Gestapo. US Customs has proudly let it be known that those fleeing diasaters such as hurricanes will be stopped, searched and if they don't have proper papers be arrested and deported. A death sentence for many Hispanic families. Also keep in mind that Hispanic LOOKING people who forgot their papers, or lost them in the storm will be dragged from their family and put in prisons.
Down here in Dumbutt we have what we call The Valley, This is an area larger than most states bordering on Mexico with very high Hispanic populations. Like any Hispanic community, most of these families have at least one family member or good friend who is undocumented. It could be the father, the child, the bother, the wife, the Aunt, Grandma, or just cousin Jesus who lives in the garage. How many will take the chance of getting on a bus or into a van to escape a deadly storm to lose a family member from deportation. The end of that person's life as they know it?
On a daily basis down here in Dumbutt we read in our papers or watch on local television our new federal police force, ICE, crashing into homes and businesses dragging hard working people out of buildings and tossing them into the backs of police wagons. Stealing mothers from children, children from fathers and leaving small business without a labor force and into the red. And believe it or not, the loss of business, sales taxes, rent and so on is becoming worse than the services drag this is suppose to be about. This is just proof in the pudding that this is really about racism, bigotry and intolerance. ADAF
At first we find this Republican hypocrisy of defining Obama as a Chamberlain Hitler appeaser and friend of terrorists rather silly. After all, Bush is writing letters to Kim, Gates is saying talk with Iran, McCain said talk to Hamas, Rummy supported Saddam, Nixon met with Mao, Reagan sat down with the Soviet Union and so forth. But the silliness faded this morning when I saw the CNN poll just now.
I have to comment on this which has become the Democratic blindside of this election. The belief that not only has America transcended racism but that race is not, should not and will not be an issue in this election. Earth to Democrats! Earth to Democrats! Come in please! Helloooo?
John McCain's "Straight Talk Express" bus suffered a flat tire sometime around the announcement that he'd had a falling out with a couple of evangelical pastors, Hagee and Parsley, who according to themselves, are on a first name basis with Gawd and Jesus. This can't be very good for ol' John because being for their endorsements before he was against them will have repercussions with this base. It's been reported that up to 20% of Americans are religiously insane and with Hagee and Parsley withdrawing their support for McCain, one has to wonder where McCain goes to fill this void.
An article on a new documentary movie about Roman Polanski jumped out at me and took hold! The movie, Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired, mostly covers the legal case that caused him to leave the country and never return. 
The adjectives are flying high, Explosive! and Shocking! says the media of Scott McClellan's book, What Happened. Republicans from talk radio, the floor of congress, the White House and Texas are shocked! and puzzled?. Bush loyalist Dan Bartlett says the book is "total crap!"

Dezmond Blake called police to say he found a baby in his freezer.
