After all, Jesus is on the board of Exxon Mobile, is well armed Republican beholding to the NRA and a Navy Seal doing assassination work in Iran. Oh, and he carries one of those big paddles with the holes in it so to get a really hard whack to any problem children brought unto him.     

Though living in Texas now for 27 years I now have even greater cause to consider myself a visitor. For no decent human being could be proud of either of these legal cases, it is the stuff of Hell.   

Now in Texas the Castle Law has been expanded to allow anyone (well white people anyway) to shoot (in the back with a shotgun) whomever steps upon their property for any reason at any time. If you are not from Texas and have a hankering to murder someone (and you are white) hurry on down!  All you need to do is rent a house and lure that person on to a corner of your property, Texas is now a free murder state. In Pasadena, Texas or Friendswood they may even have a parade for you, with Jesus and the Klan in attendance!  In 1971 Richard Nixon wanted to crush the peace movement in America. His aid Charles Colson brought to his attention a young anti-war upstart by the name of John Kerry. Colson told Nixon he guy was the most credible voice in the movement and had to be compromised. The two hand picked a recent Vietnam Veteran named John O'Neil to confront the young war hero on the Dick Cavett show. Nixon picked someone even more unfavorable to television cameras than he was. Mr. O'Neil came off as an obtuse skinny little Nixon Wonk who spent most of the hour fumbling through his notes, stammering, whining and being made a complete fool of.

He never forgot. Leading up to the 2004 election he organized and helped fund the Swiftboat Vets in the most ubiquitous and dishonest character assassination in American election history. This pussbag went so far over the line that as election day closed in he ran ads of grey haired old widows looking into the camera telling point blank lies and blaming Senator Kerry for their husbands deaths. Like Arkansas lawyer Cliff Jackson who spent his life trying to destroy Bill Clinton resulting in an impeachment, O'Neil's life long vendetta may have been the straw that broke Kerry's back. He also made big money on a book rushed out by Right-wing publisher Regnery Publishing.

She is being called a "YouTube sensation". Patricia Walsh-Smith is also being called any number of things which go nicely after "Money grubbing"----------- just fill in the blanks. She has expressed her side of the divorce from 76-year-old theater mogul husband Philip Smith on YouTube in videos seen by millions.

Millions is what it is all about. Walsh, whose age ranges from 49 to 52, married Smith knowing there was a pre-nup. Her way to change things after 9 years of marriage was to make three videos in which she rambles and rants on, describing endless details of their stormy and according to her, sexless marriage. In court, her testimony was described as "soaked in tears, and peppered with profanity." The videos tend to make me believe he deserves a medal for his years of valor, after making one gigantic whoopsie nine years ago. Just watching one video, I was fumbling for the mute button, then stop in short order. This man had the "live" version with no such conveniences.

Philip Smith did not display theatrics in New York divorce court, though he admitted to being humiliated, embarrassed, and hurt as well as feeling absolutely awful. "I felt violated in every sense of the word." Smith said when he was allowed to tell his side at long last. Smith, a self-made millionaire filed for divorce last year, citing cruelty and inhumane treatment by his younger wife who claims to be an actress and playwright. The Obamacons have been talked about for many months now, the word refers to Republicans and conservatives who have become enamored with Barack Obama and may cross party lines either privately or publicly to vote for or endorse the Democratic Nominee. Though Senator Chuck Hagel, outspoken Republican against George W. Bush's war and foreign policy, is not expected to endorse Obama but not endorse McCain either. On the other hand from what insider Novak says, Colin Powell will soon be endorsing the Democrat. Not only because of race and content of character, but because Powell is angry about being used to spread Bush Administration lies but then treated like Republicans always treat African Americans, like shit. 

When the endorsement comes, it will be the most important Obama will have received since the Kennedy clan knocked Hillary out of the primaries. It will be big news which will also begin the news cycle of what Powell will be offered. Is it possible in America to have a black President and a black Vice President?

This Obamacons are not what attracted me to Novak's column today but rather his spin on the coming demise of the Republican Party. Using words like "disgust and ""revulsion" to describe Bush policies, and claiming an "therapeutic electoral bloodbath" in store for the GOP come November. Novak even goes on to quote Larry Hunter, a conservative republican who joined Jack Kemp's (and Bill Bennett) Right-wing organization Empower America to become Kemp's political ghost writer.

Friendswood, Texas, neighboring Santa Fe and other predominantly white enclaves of Texas ignorance and religious intolerance South of Houston do have some non white residents. The Houston Chronicle recently ran a pleasant personal piece on one such African American success story. Robin Armstrong, not to be confused with fired Friendswood principle Robin Lowe, is a local physician who lives in Friendswood, Texas. He is also the first black vice chair for the Texas Republican Party. First in 100 years it seems. An African American has to hold some very hardcore conservative values to pass muster in Republican politics, especially down here in Texas and  especially in a town like Friendswood.  

Mr. Armstrong passes all the tests. He is strongly against Affirmative Action for African Americans other than himself, wants no part of any national health care plan and says Barack Obama is a "socialist". But that is not what drew me to the Chronicle interview.

When asked why a black man from an area so seeped in racial discrimation became a conservative Republican he replied that it was because he became an evangelical Christian while at college. Which in turn brought the singular issue of abortion as the impetus of his politics. When asked by other blacks who vote Democratic why he is a Republican he says he wins them over by saying that he is just like them, against abortion and gay marriage.

So there you much have it, the various aspects of religious sexual intolerance is what most drives the GOP over the past generation or so. Looking out only for the wealthy, and not giving a crap about anything or anyone but themselves is secondary to the Republican ideology.

Troyer now has an order from a federal judge to shut down internet distribution, and force porn distributors to surrender the videos they may have. The diminutive star has long regaled captive audiences with tales of threesomes and Play Boy Bunnies, and was getting a fair amount of publicity from this video. Any publicity is good, as I understand it. I'll admit it delighted Troyer much more than I quite recently, when my radio alarm clock wakened me with a talk show speculating upon the size of Mr. Troyer's equipment, and the hot (publicity mad) babes he's dated. His sudden umbrage is stranger still, as he now claims the tape was stolen from his home months ago...something I do not recall hearing while he was riding the crest of the talk show circuit.

Why the sudden change of heart - literally within days of freely sharing his good times? I know it's difficult to believe, but money could have something to do with it. Troyer's sudden turn around coincides with an offer from the same people who bought Paris Hilton's "One Night in Paris" video. They have tempted Troyer in the neighborhood of 50,000 pounds. The judgement also seeks ten million pounds in damages. The main target of the suit seems to be entertainment website TMZ, which has now pulled the 25 second snippits. I can safely say the snippits, and perhaps even the full length videos are not difficult to locate, without going anywhere near TMZ, and even after the judge's ruling.

I particularly love this statement, and wonder if this judge is from Central Casting. US District Judge Philip Gutierrez wrote that Troyer's motion "demonstrated that he will suffer irreparable harm to his reputation" if the tape is distributed.
