Senior political correspondent Wyatt Cenac returns to Florida to see how old Jewish residents feel about the presidential debate. Results are that they don't like Sarah Palin though that is offset by Michelle Obama having an ass as big as a horse! I have a family with lots of old Jews in it, and I can safely say they are indeed, funny as Hell. I think what makes them so funny is they will tell you just what they think without thinking about it first.
By voting down the bailout bill the conservative wing of the Republican Party today pushed the Dow Jones down 777 points, the biggest drop in American history. They did it they say, because Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said mean things about what their unregulated free market ideology has wrought, the biggest financial melt down since 1929. Conservatives who exist on a plane of self admitted mean nastyness don't like it when people are mean and nasty to them. It is that very hypocrisy which drives the radio shows they listen to.
The argument has been corrupted by ideologues from both sides screeching either SOCIALISM or BAILING OUT WALL STREET. Both are in error.
It is neither about the much dreaded word "socialism" nor is it about bailing out bankers and brokers, but rather it is to bail us all out of a fix created by Republican economic ideology, and admitedly, what many Democrats have had to go along with to get elected over the past 30 years.
It is a $2500 investment from each of us, not to bail out those who sold us this sorryass Republican bill of goods, but those who bought the goods. That includes those of us with a mortgage, an IRA account, a 401K account, who have money in the market or are even holding money market accounts for Chrissake.
It is also meant to keep fear at bay so the stock market won't push us from the Recession Republicans refuse to admit we are in, to a full fledged Depression.
It too is meant to reduce the credit crunch, for as it stands credit is now so tight people cannot get loans to buy homes, fix their homes, buy cars, appliances or computers which is causing unemployment to rise.
The bailout may seem to be taking the risk from those REPUBLICANS who caused it, but it is necessary to keep the rest of us in our homes and jobs, and is especially important to the elderly on retirement plans.
A talking egg tells you who is to blame for everything! What a relief for the high rollers thought to be
responsible for the financial problems! Got a problem? You know who to blame, just as soon as they're finished re-building after IKE and picking the fruit.
I believe a feisty White woman could easily beat McCain/Palin by double digits come this November 4th. Though it seems Democrats chose to believe Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity that one particular feisty White woman was unelectable. Why any sane person would believe anything Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity has to say is way way beyond my meager intellect. And now it seems we are in deep trouble with what should be a double digit Democratic lead as an election toss up.
Choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate, John McCain put Jesus Christ and God himself on his ticket. In the debate Friday night McCain trumped up with the flag, patriotism, country, service and our troops. While Barack Obama gave us a college lecture with so many missed opportunities I turned it off. What a disappointment. Nothing memorable while failing to STAMP Republican Party on McCain's forehead, or to dumb it down, way down.
People don't like hearing this from either end of the political spectrum, but MOST intelligent American voters believe The Flintstones are more real than The Origin of Species. And that is not just a denial of evolution, it is also a denial of common sense, reason and reality, not to even mention Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Cosmology, Paleontology, Archeology to name just a fewologies.
But most importantly McCain has every racist in America going to pull his lever. Though John McCain consistently and loudly voted against a Martin Luther King holiday he did say he was sorry this year. I know I know, racism is a thing of the past in America. Well let me say just his one thing on that. BULLFUCKINGSHIT! What planet are they from? Gosh...
I am seeing a number now on the Bradley Effect, which is somewhere between 5 and 15 points in polling errors. 6 points seems to be the specific number I am seeing in relation to this election.
The Bradley Effect was named after the 1982 failure of Los Angeles Black Mayor Tom Bradley in his bid for Governor. Pre election and exit polls showed him an easy winner but George Keukmejian beat him by 1.2 points. A 6 point error in the polls.
In 1983 Harold Washington was ahead 14 pionts in the polls for the Mayor of Chicago and won by only 4 pionts. A 10 point error in the polls.
In 1992 Black New York Mayor David Dinkins had a double digit lead in pre election and exit polls and won by only 2 points. A 10 point error in the polls.
Also in 1992 Black Virgina candidate Douglas Wilder was 15 points ahead in the pre election and exit polls and won by only 7000 votes. A 14 point error in the polls.
In 1978 Massachusetts' Black US Senator Edward Brooke was 8 points ahead in election night polls and lost by 10 points to Paul Tsongas. An 18 point error in the polls.
Or course many like to blame polling in general for these errors but come on. Politicians and the media don't shell out billions of dollars for crap. And anyone who has taken that horribly hard and boring 5 credit course called Statistics knows better. I know, I had to take it twice.
White people LIE about their racism, not only to pollsters but everyone else as well. Well not so much here in Dumbutt, Texas and the rest of the South where people are a bit more honest and while denying they aret racists, readily admit they don't like ni***ers. But since the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act of 1964 and 1965 the Southern States (and Idaho) have been locked into White Republicanism so they don't matter. But in every swing state there are enough of them to throw the election to McCain on race alone. Though I have heard that there is a chance in Hell that Virginia and North Carolina have had enough Yankees infiltrate over the years that they may possibly break away from the Old Confederacy (and Idaho).
So come November 3rd, Obama has to be at least 7 points ahead to squeak through this by one point.
And once again, because of having a Fundamentalist Bimbo on the GOP ticket, we are going to get that same activist turnout of certifiable morons in the swing states who gave us George W. Bush. Twice. Sorry about the BIMBO... Hmmn... Ya know its W that is the Bimbo which would make Sarah Palin a Bimba. Right?
My point is to make yall understand that the only way we can win this thing is by getting out the vote. It is too late for rhetoric and debate to make a differnce. It is all about turnout in the swing states. So please, on November 4th get everyone you can in your car, or rent a school bus - at the point of a gun if necessary - to go vote. Call Jesse Jackson for help if necessary. You can say what you will about Mr. Jackson, but calling out the vote has been his primary business his entire life. He knows something about it.
Too many foriegners at the Untited Nations! We will get those jobs back for Americans!
Amy Poehler does the "straight man" so very well it's what gives this skit its "A" rating... I also noticed the accent is so so Minnesota! What's Jesse Ventura have to say about Gov. Palin I wonder doanya know?
Speaking of satire... I often find myself quite confused when listening to Rush Limbaugh and not being able to tell if he is being sarcastic or he really is pushing all that intolerant, bigoted, selfish greedy swill he pushes. I mean really. No children, three divorces, and a morphine addict who doesn't go to chruch is the most listened to Family Values advocate in America? If that isn't satire what is it?
Ask yourself: how has "elitism" become a bad word in American politics? There is simply no other walk of life in which extraordinary talent and rigorous training are denigrated. We want elite pilots to fly our planes, elite troops to undertake our most critical missions, elite athletes to represent us in competition and elite scientists to devote the most productive years of their lives to curing our diseases. And yet, when it comes time to vest people with even greater responsibilities, we consider it a virtue to shun any and all standards of excellence. When it comes to choosing the people whose thoughts and actions will decide the fates of millions, then we suddenly want someone just like us, someone fit to have a beer with, someone down-to-earth,in fact, almost anyone, provided that he or she doesn't seem too intelligent or well educated.
I believe that with the nomination of Sarah Palin for the vice presidency, the silliness of our politics has finally put our nation at risk. The world is growing more complex - and dangerous - with each passing hour, and our position within it growing more precarious. Should she become president, Palin seems capable of enacting policies so detached from the common interests of humanity, and from empirical reality, as to unite the entire world against us. When asked why she is qualified to shoulder more responsibility than any person has held in human history, Palin cites her refusal to hesitate. "You can't blink," she told Gibson repeatedly, as though this were a primordial truth of wise governance. Let us hope that a President Palin would blink, again and again, while more thoughtful people decide the fate of civilization. When Atheists Attack
The bottom line here is the attraction far too many American Voters have toward those whose loyalty is to their fundamentalist religion rather than their loyalty to their Country and the Constitution. It is the WHY of 911, the WHY of our war in Afghanistan with the Taliban, the WHY of our problems in Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and the entire Middle East, and the WHY of most intolerance, bigotry and violent insanity in the world today.
It is not Sarah Palin who is the problem. She is a fine Soccer Mom, NRA Life Member, Field Dresser and Bimbo. The problem is too many American voters (enough to destroy this country) who believe she is the kind of brain trust we need running things in the most complicated area of our lives. And it is not just crazyass religious nuts either, never forget it was John McCain who choose her.
This truly is a strange video in every sense of the word. It gives more background on "rev" Muthee, the Witch Hunter whom Sarah Palin credits with praying her to power. The church has a mission which involves all of us, and we thought our days of burning witches was shamefully behind us.
John McCain showed up angry and beat the pants off the pleasant well spoken guy. McCain spent lots of time talking about how he would fix the $18 billion dollars a year in earmarks though! The Iraq war given us by Republicans cost $600 billion and just this weeks bailout of Republican unregulated economics cost us $700 billion. That's almost ONE HUNDRED TIMES more than what McCain is whining about. 100 times as much! 100X!
The economic fix was boring as they agreed with whatever was going on, though McCain did denigrate BIG GOVERNMENT when it came to health care, complaining about BIG GOVERNMENT is always a winner for Americans.
McCain dropped the word "Patraeus" more times than Lindsay Graham at a VFW rally. He pounded the drum for the good war in Iraq, the even better war in Afghanistan, the coming war with Iran, the border war with Pakistan, and the new war with Russia where we have to defend not only Georgia but now the Ukraine too.
McCain did so well with all this jingo madness even I was standing in the middle of the room singing God Bless America. And while I sang Obama did little other than agree with him.
There is nothing this nation of intelligent voters loves more than wars, and lots of them, all at the same time too it seems. And guns and Jesus. War, guns and Jesus - though I am not sure what order it goes. Oh, and just for a little reality check, put RACE somewhere in the list.
We are in deep deep trouble. Trailer park politics has finally done us in.
Besides Mrs or Mr Sarah Palin possibly being a man in drag - and dating Ann Coulter...
The Republicans keeping Sarah Palin's mouth shut is proof enough she is not ready for primetime either as a President, Vice President, or anything beyond representing more than half a million people (the average number of people represented by U.S. Congressmen and women). In fact if she did get a job as congresswoman from Alaska, she would only be the third stupidest person in Congress behind Virgil Goode (Stupid - Virginia) and Phil Gingrey (Stupider - Georgia). Gingrich).
Boy, Jon Stewart sure got Bob Schieffer laughing a lot! The update is that this morning at 8am it is still unknown if John McCain is going to pussy out of tonight's debate. Though much like the GOP keeping the "media" away from Sarah Palin because she is too stupid to be President, I must put my money on him showing up tonight.
In Mrs. Palin's defense I must say that George W. Bush was obviously also too stupid to be President, but American Voters wanting to keep the bar low by doing their best to not elect anyone smarter than they are, elected him anyway and he turned out great! Well that is what lipless right-wing NeoCon pundit Charles Kruthammer said this week in comparing W. Bush to the greatness of Harry Truman. "So unpopular that Truman left office disparaged and highly out of favor. History has revised that verdict. I have little doubt that Bush will be the subject of a similar reconsideration."
