Like Sen Boxer, I would like to think that indeed the President did reach and encourage most everyone there,where the hope and good will were palpable...yes, even on both sides of the table. I hope it was enough to be felt by many at home. That feeling that we may have an enormous can of - worms,but we WILL fix it, has been missing for a very long time in this country!

I liked Obama's speech, but the only part I feel really inspired about is when he talks about energy. I'm really glad he's finally taking Dean Baker's advice (most eloquently written in "From Financial Crisis to Opportunity" in the book Thinking Big (http://thinkingbigthebook.com) and STOPPING the tax breaks for corporations that send their jobs overseas!!!

I felt something watching those minutes before he came into that big important room. Everyone smiling for once, big grins all around, there was not that idealogoical wind of war and torture and secrecy pushing fear and loathing...
A different emotional makeup. A horrible economic time mixes with a emotionaly political high...
As I have said for 25 years, something big has to happen for the American people to wake up to what Republicans are really after, Twix said it best.
