In the last act of Margaritaville, the town has bought into the idea that their purchases of minor things they can't afford is entirely responsible for the state of the economy and sets out to survive on next to nothing, becoming rather self rightous in the process. In pursuit of returning his father's silly Margaritaville appliance, from one institution to another...none of which is responsible - the young boy learns how the ultimate decisions are really made, and sacrifices all to save his town. That of course is allegory, but I truly think the chicken part exists.
