I think it's terrific that the very clever and talented Stephen Colbert has achieved the nearly impossible. With his squeaky clean, conservative, flag
waving look and talk, he has managed to poke fun at the very group he blends into like a chameleon. The best to watch are those who have never seen nor read about his show before their interview, what a Mr. Toad's Wild Ride they're on!
All the while, you know he's having fun at their expense, without showing any disrespect.
I was surprised to learn that he's gained a devoted conservative audience along with the liberal ! A recent study finds that though he is popular with both, the conservatives feel that he is only joking, in other words, they're not "in" on it, and feel he is, in truth - a conservative icon.
Hey, wait a minute! Perhaps the clever Colbert is even craftier than we thought, the liberals feel he's on "our side"! Maybe WE aren't in on it. Then again, perhaps I've been reading too many Fox conspiracy stories!
