Often when someone asks, we merely answer “fine”, knowing that if we truly gave them the rundown their eyes would glaze over, and they wouldn’t make that mistake again. As promised, Moore does want to know! On the heels of the critically acclaimed “SICKO”, Michael Moore has not forgotten another often overlooked group of Americans who are being screwed by the government and the medical profession. Chances are that you either belong to this group, or know someone who does, it is the 75,000 known people who suffer from chronic pain. You can find resources, chat, forums, pain info, politics, forums, polls, at his website listed at the bottom. He’s also inviting those with chronic pain to write letters or better yet, send him a video of yourself telling your horror story, and they are growing all of the time, as the government jails doctors, and others simply refuse to treat pain.Here is but one example of a letter sent in to his site, I’ve left out the name of the writer – but she explains the basic obstacles to getting pain relief in this country, and why doctors who aren’t just plain ignorant about pain, are afraid for their very livelihood and freedom for treating these patients. I’ve taken the liberty of editing merely for brevity.

I have endured pain for more than forty years. Doctors have told me to “tough it out” because there’s nothing they can do to “cure” the problem. Usually the doctor would give me 20 half grain codeine pills and as many N S A I D S as I wanted. (Fun Fact: 17.000 people die each YEAR from severe internal bleeding caused by anti-inflammatory meds taken, as directed by their doctors, this is many times over the number who die partying with opiates.) I felt I could not endure the pain anymore! Thanks to a doctor in a pain clinic, I was sent to a doctor who treated me with Opiates and other medications which helped block the hellish pain I was going through, I still had pain, but it was minimal! I began to enjoy life! About four years later my doctor was arrested for the crimes of compassion and adherence to the oath! Today he is in a FEDERAL PRISON. I found another doctor who kept me on the same regimen of drugs. Two weeks ago my doctor stopped treating all chronic pain patients. He had a family to look after. I’m trying to find a new doctor and it isn’t easy. What makes people in the government so cold to human suffering?
Excellent question, and why are they in our medical management in the first place? Moore’s site is filled with helpful information for those who suffer, and those who try to help as well. It’s one of the best I’ve seen. I have great hopes that his video campaign to point out the idiocy of the federal government making our medical decisions,will help change this crisis!
