It’s always heart warming to hear of young couples just starting out. In fact, the father of the bride, who lives in the Sudan has a new son in law and a dowry the equivalent of $50. US dollars. What’s not to celebrate, I ask you!
This is reason to rejoice anywhere in the world. The bride ate her veil and the groom’s boutonniere, but they seem to be getting along fine.
They met at her home. It seems he couldn’t resist the “come on look” in the prospective bride’s eyes, or some other feature, and was caught with the goat in a very compromising position late at night in the barn, by her father (owner) who apparently didn’t see it as romantic, as he tied the suitor up and called for the elders. Yes, I did say goat. Lest you think this is crazy, had the groom lived in Enumclaw, WA he’d still be single. It’s perfectly legal to rent farm animals by the hour and no marriage is encouraged.
Rather than press criminal charges, the elders wisely advised him to pay the dowry and live with her as his wife. This is fine by me, as long as they don’t reproduce and move to the US. We already have one GW Bush.
