When you say that Ron Paul opposes equal pay to women or gay adoption or legalizing abortion or removing national drug laws, etc...UNDERSTAND that what he is fighting for is so that individual STATES can decide on whether or not they want these things, he is OPPOSING the right of the Federal Goverenment to decide these issues for all 52 states. In a REPUBLIC states retain their own indivual powers, in a DEMOCRACY you can have a Federal Government that is in charge of everything. This Great Country was founded as Republic, NEVER forget that. The fact that it is slowly becoming a Democracy is lamentable but with Ron Paul's help people are slowly waking up. Also please do further research on the above quotes which are allegedly attributed to Ron Paul, they were in fact printed in a newsletter that Ron Paul was affliated with but by no means written by Congressman Paul himself though he has publicly acknowledged that he should have been more careful with a newsletter that he attached his name to.
