Cleavage has experienced a resurgence for day and evening wear, just..trust me. If you buy this, then obviously cleavage isn’t reason to comment or point, much less feature in a campaign debate, unless the wearer bared neck to navel in an afternoon campaign debate, demonstrating poor taste bordering on mental health problems. Such was not the case with Hillary “Heaving Bosums" Clinton. Hillary did not cross the boundary into either of the above categories at a July 18th campaign debate on education. It must also be noted that I’ve seen nothing, zero, zip about men’s haberdashery, save for the bru-ha-ha over Edwards infamous $400 hair cut. Men can wear the most atrocious ties, but what they say remains the important point.
Rather than send a political reporter, to cover the July 18th campaign debate on education, The birdcage lining favorite, The Washington Post, sent Pulitzer Prize Fashion writer Robin Givhan to cover the event. Cover she did, to the tune of 746 words, all on the topic of Hillary’s modest neckline, modest even by Givhan’s standards, but only after grabbing attention with the words “Hillary Clinton and Cleavage”.
Included is part of this earth shaking revealation. “Clinton wore a rose colored blazer over a black top. The neckline sat low on her chest and had a subtle V-shape. The cleavage registered only after a quick glance” she wrote. “There wasn’t an unseemly amount of cleavage showing, but there it is. Undeniable. It was startling to see that small acknowledgement of sexuality and femininity peeking out of the conservative – aesthetically speaking, environment of Congress.” <GASP!>
I’m happy to report that thousands of outraged readers wrote in and called expressing their displeasure to the Post, who - unfortunately couldn’t have been happier. Does this tell you all you need to know about the Post?
My opinion is that it says much more about the Post, than any candidate they might mention, and a lot about our “news sources”. Whom do you trust when searching for truly important news?
Their ombudsman for The Post admitted the story had nothing to do with whether Hillary should be president, but nearly crowed when stating that it was the most viewed story on the web site all day, as was their recent tripe about Edward’s haircut….and that, friends, is what it’s all about.
