Bush and Cheney - Impeachment or Execution?

People have a bad taste in their mouth about impeachment these days. In our lifetime we have had two. The first concerned covering up a bungled little burglary and the President resigned before the impeachment began, and the other for lying about a BJ.

In comparison, our present President and Vice President have told thousands of lies about the reasons they went to war which has caused the deaths of 3000 Americans (more than 911) and about 60,000 civilians. They have usurped the constitution by listening in to our phone calls, took away the most basic right of Habeas Corpus and voided the Geneva Convention so they could torture people. All far far more serious than BJs or Burgling.

So with impeachment out of the question because we just don’t like it anymore, perhaps a little of their own medicine is in order. Arrest them without cause, send them down to Guantanamo Bay in orange jump suits where they can sit in their underwear with a Bible and go water boarding each day. Then after a few years, quietly ship them off to Shitkickistan to be disappeared.

"It's about the war, stupid."

We are going to start hearing all sorts of explanations for the war that ignore the obvious. The talking heads will debate whether the mistakes have been tactical or strategic, when it is simply about lying. The next step is just making themselves impeachment-proof by showing they were simply incompetant.

I already heard the following as the Secretary of Defense is leaving office today:

Rumsfeld should have looked for Generals with smart solutions, instead of consulting only yes-man Generals with a smart salute.

'Tis absolutely surreal. Much Like Alice down the rabbit hole, I keep waiting to awaken in a world which makes more sense.
This latest announcement that the generals are to blame is but another
lame attempt to focus the blame anywhere
but where it lies.

I'm certain you're correct, in that after two of them, impeachment leaves a bad taste in our mouths. Still others, tell me that they fear Cheney wouldn't be packing his bags along with the Chief, and his heretofore behind the scenes manipulations and grumpy, condescending, curmudgeonly face would be out in front of us daily. Ridiculous I say, certainly there is enough evidence from Haliburton alone to oust them both together. Who knows what other goodies surely lurk waiting to be discovered..
as if that can of worms isn't enough.

Having said that, should Americans sit
complacently until 2008, just hoping
for the best? Some have told me that
very thing.
While loathe to introduce yet another impeachment, this would be a political and moral oversight IMHO.
It is the eqivalent of spanking a child
for stealing candy bars, and refraining
from correcting his younger brother when
he's started mauling and killing pets,
and beating up on the younger children.
IOW, you have a young sociopath on your
hands, and had best deal with him - tired of it or not.

While I am in possession of no crystal
ball, I predict this will go down as the
era of the very worst corruption in
an arena which is rife with it in the
best of times.
More strikingly..it will be remembered
as the era of complacencly during extreme and blatent abuses of power, lying, and a nation so frightened of one
very terrible boogeyman, that they're
afraid or just too blase' to take action
against those who've made no secret of
using our country for their own gain, and that of their loyal, and rich supporters - all of this at the cost
of our young people, and a further destabilization in an already violent
part of the world - just to scratch the
surface.

Crystal ball or no, I sigh in resignation, but still cannot help but
wonder what has caused this state of
benign indulgence and tolerance for those who've made no secret of their
contempt for we who are allegedly their
very bosses, and what - if anything
could jolt us all out of the stupor?
