At first this headline seems out of whack, shouldn't it read Republicans? This tax passed by the House recently put a .5% surcharge on millionaires to enhance the GI Bill giving our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan much needed help in perusing college educations. Can we surmise that even Democrats can no long increase taxes by any trifling amount to pay as we go? Not really, this is a complicated parliamentary and political game involving separate forms of funding, in this case the differences between war funding and budget funding, and the politics of ending the war. The bottom line is that any tax increase, even a half a percent upon millionaires or increase in any social program, soldiers or not, will be vetoed by George Bush and upheld by Senate Republicans. As we all know, Jesus hates taxes, it was the basis of his ministry as it is now America's. The point of this article is a reminder that no matter which Democrat wins in November, that come February, without a presidential veto on all things reasonable as we have now, things are going to change greatly. In fact it may become so depressing to Republicans in Congress that perhaps it would be a humane endeavor to spend a little tax money to put safety nets below all Republican's office windows. Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne, in direct conflict with the Endangered Species Act has added riders exempting oil companies from drilling in polar bear habitat. He also angrily made it known that this would not cause any energy companies to have to clean up their air in Alaska or anywhere else. Stephen did get in a few good hits with his satirical wit but missed one big thing in this Republican ideology of Leave Us Alone, the name of the Norquist book being pushed. "So I agree with you 100%! With your book, the ideology and the GOP! Any woman wishing an abortion for any reason should be left alone! As should my cousin Rollin Doobie." Ya know, I have never heard their answer to such questions. Also notice when Colbert asks if this means no funding of roads and highways, Norquist says we only need funding of police and war. He and his will not even gives us roads for Christsake! And they been running this country (into the ground) for a generation. HomeWednesday, May 14. 2008Hillary Clinton Wins West Virgina Primary by 41 pecentThe final results of the West Virginia Democratic Primary 67% to Obama's 26%. A spread of 41 points the greatest winning margin since the primaries began. I am writing this for Google 24 hours after the polls closed. Both cable television and the internet have long ago picked Barack Obama to actively campaign for and Hillary Clinton to actively campaign against, so the facts and the numbers of this, the biggest win so far in the primaries, has gone mostly unreported. What few headlines there are read something like Futile win for Clinton in W Virginia, or Obama Woes Floridians in Record Turnouts, or We All Hope Hillary Drops Dead. So if no one else is posting these numbers which took me most of an hour to find through Google, I will just to see if anyone cares. I do admit that if I had gone to that special place six steps deep inside CNN I could have had them right away. I must also say that so unlike cable news and media which has long ago thrown any concept of fairness to the wind, at least broadcast television tries to be fair and balanced regarding this election process. If cable or the liberal blogoshere were one's only source of information, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro would be IN FACT dirty fighting racist pigs. It's truly amazing. But I suppose if one's own ox is the beneficiary of whatever it may be, one would either take little notice or not give a rat's ass. Human nature being what it is... The big question is whether cable news and media will keep campaigning for Obama once they have thrown Hillary to the wolves.

This article by the Houston Chronicle is a classic regarding illegal immigration, or more properly defined, immigration, or better yet, stupid white crackers hating Mexicans no matter the paperwork because they have nothing better to do with their sorryass lives. It is so silly that it makes us here in Dumbutt, Texas seem almost intelligent.
West Virginia has an Hispanic population of .7% or about 12,000 admitting to Hispanic heritage. The towns the men quoted below live in have ZERO Hispanics and ZERO illegal immigrants. America's new Gestapo, ICE, has yet to find an illegal immigrant of any flavor anywhere near the place. "It's a terrible problem, I think they're taking jobs away from people that are here legally, and citizens, You have to pick the best of three evils [for President]" James Britton owner of Bruceton Mills Things 'n Stuff. James' Things 'n Stuff store is in jeopardy from non existent Mexicans with plans to sell invisible pinatas in a pretend store across the street. "They're not just taking migrant field-worker jobs. They're doing construction work, which pays pretty well,I think they're taking jobs away from people that are here legally, and citizens, I can't stand the Clintons. She is a very poor choice for president, I will vote for McCain." Ken Adams who retired in Parkersburg six years ago. With no Hispanics in sight, Ken is worried that some may move in next door and compete with his retirement. Who knows, they may all beat him at shuffle board and checkers. This article by Chronicle reporter Patrick Brendel sure says a mouthful about this immigration issue whether it was his intention or not. Few immigrants but lots of hot debate in W. Right-wing commentator and ceepy crawler Jonah Goldberg, son of sleazebag Lucianne Goldberg - friend of Matt Drudge and Linda Tripp - wrote a disgusting column last week defending the Tuskegee syphilis case brought up by the ubiquitous Reverend Wright video. In so doing, Goldberg put himself on a level far far below that of Reverend Wright.
Let's be clear on this. In 1936 the US Public Health Service in Alabama brought in 399 poor black men who had syphilis for an experiment. They did not tell the participants that they had the disease, and though they were told they were being treated they were not. As such many not only died from syphilis and its complications, but passed it on to their black wifes and children. The doctors were only concerned with autopsy results. Because there was no cure for syphilis in 1936, Goldberg defends the case. There was treatment at the time which was called arsphenamine discovered in 1910 by Dr. Paul Ehrlich. Being the ugly creepy crawler Goldberg is, he failed to say that the actual cure - which was penicillin - was being cheaply mass produced by 1943. Seven years after the experiment began, and 30 years before it ended. All this is of course expected from Republican commentators, but the coup de grace was this quote in the article: Among scholars who’ve studied Tuskegee, there’s a lot of debate about how much — if any — racism was involved in the experiment. That is such a foul, disgusting, absurd lie that like Ann Coulter before him, every major newspaper in the world that syndicates his column should have already thrown him out the damn door on his fat ass. Barr is so far out on the lunatic fringe he lost his congressional seat not in the 2006 Democratic upset, but back in 2002, in a lunatic fringe district in the lunatic fringe state of Georgia no less!Barr is best remembered as the strongest congressional voice for everything NRA. He is one of those lunatic fringe Republicans who are so intrinsically repulsive they can't get lobbying jobs (Bob Dornan is another) so they become radio talk show hosts whipping up the masses to evermore bigotry, intolerance, and gun fun. This week George Wlll and Sean Hannity had a fit with their one time friend who they now call "spolier" saying he will help John McCain lose the election in the same way Ralph Nader helped lose it for Al Gore in 2000. Which they say could be even worse than what Nader did as so many conservatives are disillusioned with McCain who on occasion says reasonable things. The point here is just a reminder to anyone still confused - even after watching Ron Paul ply his lunatic fringe poo for so many months - as to what a Libertarian is and what the Libertarian Party is about. It is not about pot smoking old guys with ponytails, rather it's the hardest turn to right-wing lunacy in America. It is worse than communism, fascism, theocracy and anarchy all joined asunder. It is mostly about those who want to settle things with their personal arsenals rather than laws. Monday, May 12. 2008Mental Health Care Employees Rip Treatment of FLDS Mormon Sect When one first reads the headlines of this Houston Chronicle story it seems the mental health community is making war with Texas Child Protective Services over the poor treatment of the FLDS Mormon sect. But reading into the article further one finds that this is really about nine employees who work for a private mental health care agency called Mental Health - Mental Retardation Center (MHMRC) which seem to have ties with Baptist preacher Kevin Dinnin.May I remind you that this is not just Texas, this is West Texas where David Koresh is still a hero and clearing brush with Jesus is the regional pastime. The area has a religious agenda promoting anything with Jesus in it is good and any wall between Church and State is evil. These FDLS women, many of whom have individually sold their underage daughters to old married men for sex, and collectively have been part of a conspiracy to do so, should have long ago had their pastel frontier garb (with prayers for the end of the world stitche in the seams) ripped from their bodies and be put in orange jumpsuits and shackles. They should also have already been indicted for felony sex crimes and be in jail awaiting trial. Their lawyers should also have advised them to make a plea bargain of guilty in return for reduced sentences of 10 years to life in prison. Just like any other women who may have done the same WITHOUT waving God around in our faces. Republicans deferring 4000 flag draped caskets and a trillion dollars of our money to Iraq. The Republican concept of self regulation causing millions to get thrown out of their homes and afraid to drive further than the the convenience store. Republican bootstrap ideology putting health care and college educations out of reach of millions of hard working Americans. And now a new insult to injury has reared its head. One of the few industries that has benefited from the mortgage meltdown is the public storage industry. Overall industry stock is up 18% to 33% this year. There has also been correlating public auctions on the contents of storage units for the very people who went broke losing their homes and now cannot afford the storage fees. Millions of Americans have kids in danger on the other side of the world, they can no longer afford to drive, they are losing their homes and now all their stuff. And come November most of them will vote Republican giving those who caused them all their problems 4 more years of making it all even worse for them. Home Saturday, May 10. 2008Houston Chronicle Letters All in Favor of Photo IDThe top line of today's Letters to the Editor in the Houston Chronicle reads: Adamantly! Tenaciously! Obstinantely! Stupidly! In all four of these letters one can see that here in Dumbutt, Texas not much thinking goes on at or off The Range. On a related story, yesterday a man sitting his chair at a KOA campground suddenly went cold as an AR-15 round slammed into his stomach ending his day and life. Again an AR-15 assault rifle from a loud and often used makeshift gun range bordering on the campground. Good place for a range! Lot's of thought went into that as it was being used for years without anyone thinking to complain. Back to the letters. Though are ofthem are full of what we now call nativism a few paragraphs jumped off the page at me.
Wow hey! Voting Rights Act of 1964 out the window. And an even smaller pool of voters than we already have. Like only landowners or those who know Ronald Reagan's birthday? And this one takes my breath away.
Now if you are from someplace where it may snow on occasion and don't know what "these people" means, you also probably think a black man can become the President. Of course all these Dumbuttians will not accept the fact that voter "ID" fraud is so rare it matters not a wit to our election process. Rather it is all about further reducing the vote of the old, the poor, and the funny colored and funny named, who tend to not vote Republican. Seeming out of whack with Republican ideology, the Bush Administration's Department of the Interior declared the first animal endangered due to Climate Change. I am sure the last holdouts still pounding the drum that global warming is a Marxist conspiracy by liberals to destroy America, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, are rolling in their graves. Oops, my recent optimism carried me away.
