What’s so hard about this? EVERYONE participates and the cost of health insurance drops by half. Proved, PROVED by the rest of the civilized world. No 2400 pages of crap needed. All that is needed is to change one word. From “65 and older” to “all” in the Medicare act. If everyone paid in with a payroll tax, that supported private insurance plans, we would all make save more money. Employers would give the employees raises to the amount they spend on dishing out health care now. Rates would go down. And doctors and hospitals would charge for services according to reality rather than how much insurance companies choose to pay.
Obamacare is the same thing the Republicans presented in 1993 in response to Hillarycare. In fact even up to 2008 the GOP, and specifically Newt Gingrich were touting the MANDATE as personal responsibility.
The Republicans are big on talking morals. Forcing the poor and out of work into EMERGENCY ROOMS with no preventive care at all. How about their belief that if you get sick you lose your savings, your car, your children’s college education and your goddamn house. The immorality of that tops Miley Cyrus all to Hell.
But Republicans are spending all their capital on destroying even their own ideas on health care. It is the most important issue they have. Denying insurance to 10s of millions, and making the rest of us price us out of the market with ever less coverage.
