Campus Sexual Assault talk for Girls vs Boys

Campus Sexual Assault talk for Girls vs Boys

Lipstick Liberal shines a humorous light on a serious topic as a couple prepare their offspring for college, with a misguided emphasis on rape prevention for the daughter, and an uncomplicated ‘talk’ with the son.  Mom has a few little items for her daughter that she believes will ward off sexual assault, which is a rising concern on college campuses.I suspect she is a Limbaugh listener, as she seems to be under the delusion that rape is a crime of lust. As such, it can be prevented by getting ugly.

Mom has prepared a kit, in which she has included – among other items, thick, ugly glasses, a tape measure (to assure that her skirts aren’t too short)and some carbs in a can, so her daughter can ‘pack on the pounds.’ Meanwhile dad asks Junior if he’s packed yet. The answer is ‘yep’ to which dad replies ‘cool.’

Mom is not finished. There is a breathalyzer so her daughter can prevent ‘oopsie daisy.’ “Oopsie Daisy” is when you drink so much he drugs your drink, and now yer pregnant… Oopsie daisy!”    As you can plainly see, every possible outcome is the fault of the girl. Dad will surely give his son a talk about respecting women, drunk or sober. Let’s listen in. “Got condoms?” inquires the father.  The boy briefly looks up and replies, “Yep.”  Dad predictably replies, “Cool.”    Discussion over.
One of the offspring is getting a titanium chastity belt…Can you guess who?

If a Nevada Assemblywoman is successful, there will only be one item in a girl’s old kit bag – a gun! Michelle Fiore (R – of course) knows that the solution to campus sexual assault is…You know this one, “More guns.”  Fiore explained her plan to reduce sexual assault on college campuses in an interview with the New York Times.

“If these young, hot little girls on campus have a firearm, I wonder how many men will want to assault them. The sexual assaults that are occurring would go down once these sexual predators get a bullet in their head.”

Likewise, a roommate tip-toeing in unexpectedly might be the recipient of the bullet in the head. As we just saw in the car rage incident, having a gun escalates matters. Access to firearms triples the chances of a woman being the victim of a homicide.

Obviously a great many people are still ignorant of what sexual assault truly is. We could start a national discussion and educate folks, stop blaming the victim, and treat one another with respect –  but you all know, that is not the  ‘solution we’re aiming for.’
