The school is overseen by the Archdiocese of Louisville, who would prefer to conduct their “own probe” rather than leave it to the legal system, they’ve done such a marvelous job of internal policing so far, and now apparently are above the law? The Louisville justice system seems to disagree.
Schum is charged with a misdemeanor prostitution citation. The principal and chemistry teacher has a masters in teaching and a doctorate in education. Schum was parked in an area known for drugs and prostitution. Officers knowing it was the Halloween season, and many adults are in costume, only became suspicious when the model for our young for 25 years told them conflicting stories.
We knew there were problems with the clergy that the recent pay-off to abuse survivors didn’t help. I wonder if others also hadn’t thought of the lay people who work within their system, and a tendency to be drawn to a “safe” atmosphere for them within the church structure? ABC News Story
