Let me use Charles Krauthammer as the spokesman for this Mosque issue. Usomg a sour little man almost as ugly as his politics always makes things just a little more fair. Mosque proponents show disdain for sacred ground. I don’t even want to quote any of his Right-wing swill.
One thing does need saying though. You know that problem in the Middle East? You know what that is all about? HALLOWED and SACRED ground. Magic JuJu in the dirt. Hallowed and sacred ground needs to be, how would one say, decommissioned.
Krauthammer uses the same two false metaphors being used by them all. Pearl Harbor was not about religious freedom and the Nunnery outside Auschwitz was not about the 1st Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. He is comparing apples to boats.
But the nub of the matter is his statement which we hear over and over again from these same KIND OF PEOPLE, that that 911 was done IN THE NAME OF ISLAM. Dr Gunn was shot IN THE NAME OF JESUS. Goldberg shot up a Mosque IN THE NAME OF JUDAISM. Branch Davidians shot 30 children in the head IN THE NAME OF CHRISTIANITY. Priests have sex with little boys IN THE NAME OF CATHOLICISM. This angst directed at Muslims is being played by the Republican Party for the same reasons they play the ACORN and NAACP card, the Immigrant and Hispanic card, the Foreigner and Gay cards.
