Yes, of course we are all guaranteed certain unalienable rights under the Constitution. Perhaps you have known someone who could speak for so long, and on such annoying topics that you felt your ears bleed. In fact, people who abuse the First Amendment seem to be growing in numbers. The Supreme Court was forced to make an unusual ruling after hearing the case of Tom Becker.
After three hours of testimony, which included, but was not limited to – racist remarks and rants about organic food, Chief Justice Roberts ruled that Becker may only speak aloud after writing down what he has to say – not a bad idea for many. The preferred option was reluctantly tabled, as it would have required legalizing murder, the better to beat him to death with their gavels.
