I could have used just the photo capture of the ending of Green Eggs and Ham for this article but then we would miss this beloved voice screeching across the blackboard of our mind.
Just like Ted Cruz in his famous filibuster to shut down America, Sarah Palin too refused to finish reading Green Eggs and Ham, ignoring the last few pages which contained the lesson of the book. A book BTW, these silly Right-wing extremists can’t keep waving about written by one of the most well known and respected liberal voices in the world. Theodor Seuss Geisel’s entire body of work was to teach children not only to think for themselves, but to do nice things for others. And be funny doing it. None of which has anything to do with Republican politics.
Obviously the point Cruz and Palin try to make is putting to rhyme how intensely they DO NOT LIKE OBAMA, they DO NOT LIKE OBAMACARE and DO NOT LIKE THE GOVERNMENT and DO NOT LIKE taxes, entitlements and once again those damn Russians. But the lesson of the book is just the opposite, that just not liking something without reason is wrong and if you give it a try you may just find you do like it.
I guess this thing about Republicans reading Green Eggs and Ham began with one of the Republican Party’s most reviled individuals, Jesse Jackson [it is not about race] who read the WHOLE BOOK from beginning to end on Saturday Night Live long ago.
