I disagree with the premise. TEXAS will be the last stand, the Alamo and all that. And hey, it’s not just Mississippi and Alabama. Paula Deen is from Georgia. David Duke is from Louisiana, and what about South Carolina for christ sake?
There is a nice ring to this story, that not EVERYONE in the South is a unreconstructed confederate bigot, only about 75% of the white people are. And they, Jesus and the NRA are in charge of those states.
The next issue for the South is marijuana legalization. On this one Mississippi wins. Possession of one ounce of pot is a felony with 3 years in state prison. And that ain’t changing anytime soon. But there is a simple fix. DO NOT EVER GO TO OR THROUGH MISSISSIPPI if you smoke pot, are not white, are gay, or a yankee. DON’T GO THERE.
