What you say to your dog daily would be both creepy and possibly cause for a lawsuit if directed to the people in your life. We’re so close to our pets and our dealings are so personal, that we don’t give a second thought to what we say to them. If your pet talk bleeds into human communication, you now have trouble!
A simple observation about a newcomer, such as “Is he neutered?” or “Does she bite? She sure looks frisky for her age. ” is cause for such sensitivity! As convenient as it would often be to shame a roommate with a rolled up newspaper – it doesn’t yeild good results.
It’s fortunate that our pets put up with our quirks and love us unconditionally. They work for treats. They forgive with petting and more treats…And if all else fails, a ride in the car with the window down erases all of our blunders from memory…Unless you have cats, then I don’t know what to say for you except buy catnip in the giant economy size. Whoozagoodboy?!!
