I watch MSNBC Mornin’ Joe to get my daily dose of Republican talking points. Joe Scarborough is said to be a moderate conservative Republican. He was the congressman in the 1990’s from the Florida Panhandle, which is the most Right-wing nutcake region I know of. It’s were they so proudly shoot doctors in the back.
Joe is 100% no increase taxes guy. Evangelical Christian. He also gets the most animated, literally spraying angry spittle into the camera lights, when anyone decries America torturing people. He is a big strong advocate for torturing Muslims. Which I suppose comes from his Christian Pan Handle upbringing. Or perhaps torture is just a requirement of being a Republican?
So just the other day I was surprised to hear Joe say that our TWO TIER health care system is "IMMORAL." That a system that covers those who can afford ever increasing expensive health insurance plans – or have good jobs that still include such plans – on the one hand, and on the other health care that is dispensed from crowded late night emergency rooms filled with crying babies and bloody bodies for to the poor, the uninsured, the under-insured and the unemployed is IMMORAL and has to change. Of course Joe wants to do that through private sector death panels. But at least he sees our system for what it is.
For any serious MORAL change in our health care system, whether single payer, public option, or private non profit EVERYONE MUST pay in. Just like EVERYONE does in the entire rest of the world. It is the basis of what CIVILIZATION IS. It is also the CHRISTIAN thing to do. But you know, because talk radio, Fox News and the media "civilization" has now become synonymous with "socialism". Civilized nations do not execute their people or sell 30 round clips at the mall.
