For the first 20 years or so of the net and then the internet I was one of the loudest voices for privacy online. I fought tooth and nail to keep real names off off it, for all that did was bring threats from Republicans into the real world rather than keeping it in cyberspace. Literally thousands of times I heard the conservative cry to shut people up with WE KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE. WE KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN GO TO SCHOOL. It wasn’t until Facebook that I finally threw up my hands and gave it up. You can’t fight technology, and the more of it we accept, the more privacy we lose. And there is nothing to be done about it. Sadly. Well other than never go online and never use a cell phone.
Hmmm… Which come to think of it is not such a bad idea… Well for mass murderers, serial killers, gun enthusiasts and child molesters.
