FOX News Reports Spoof of Obama Funding Muslim Museum As Fact! Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel:  Anna Kooiman reported a spoof as truth on “Fox & Friends’ when she claimed President Obama was funding a Muslim museum ‘out of his own pocket.’  The story contrasted with a report that the patriots at the RNC scraped  funds together to pay federal workers at the WW2 Memorial, so that it may remain open through the government shutdown.  Alternately, they took wire cutters and opened it to waiting throngs.

The ‘source’ for the Obama story was the humor site the ‘National Report’ which
Two months ago reported: “Giant Baby Snatching Mosquitoes Invade Florida, EPA Claims Protected Species.”  It’s certainly easy to see how Fox producers could mistake the ‘National Report’ with real verifiable news, as Kooiman seems to infer in a small tweet she posted by way of correcting the story. All Fox viewers are active Twitter followers and I’m certain this corrected the issue. Certainly Fox wouldn’t have done the story hoping to reach a wider audience who doesn’t follow Twitter or fact check ‘news’ they see on Fox.

Snopes anyone?
