That is one example of just how powerful the NRA has become and how over the top our American gun culture has gone. And here is another that actually made me gag.
"This shouldn’t happen in this country, or anywhere else, but in a free society, we’re going to be subject to people like this. I prefer this to the alternative." John Green father of 9 year old girl shot to death with a 9mm semi-automatic Glock with an extended clip bought by a nutcake.
As you can well imagine those two quotes are overwhelming the NRA, RKBA, Libertarian and conservative blogs and websites.
It has now been a few days since some gunloon* bought a semi-automatic 9mm handgun with an extended clip firing off 30 rounds before having to reload. *Those who buy and carry handguns with 30 round clips are "gunloons".
A reminder – Timothy McVeigh’s political views were primarily about gungoonery.
So what have we learned so far?
1) That this was an act of mental health having nothing to do with politics.
2) That blaming it upon the often violent gun references in Tea Party politics and conservative TV and Radio pundits makes Tea Baggers and conservative TV and Radio pundits more "2nd Amendment remedy" MAD than they were before!
3) That even though it is Republicans, conservatives, Tea Baggers and the NRA who push the promotion of unregulated gunplay in our unique American gun culture, it is NOT political. Believe it or not.
4) With a Republican House now in session and with all members of Congress more afraid of the NRA than al Qaeda, the remedy to these mass shootings are for more people, teachers, students, and shoppers to carry more Glocks in their pockets. If fact since the shootings Glock sales are up 50% over the same period last year.
I am sure the next step will be wearing bandoleers of multiple extended clips crisscrossing chests instead of suspenders.
The consensus that this terrorist act is not political is only correct if one defines the NRA, all gun lobbies, and supporters as not political. And if we as a nation can close our eyes and accept that crap we are capable of closing our eyes to anything.
We need to update the list of the craziest damn crap conservative lies in America from three to four:
1) Evolution is a lie.
2) Climate change is a myth.
3) Trickle down economics works.
4) The gun debate is not political.

UPDATE! Two Democrats in the House are submitting a bill to reduce the size of handgun clips from 30 down to 15! This is an example of how insane it has become, we want to make it so a nutcake can only shoot 15 people at a time before reloading. And already the Republicans are UP IN ARMS over this bill. Republicans need 30 round clips to KEEP FEAR ALIVE…
