Glenn Beck, Jim Stossel and Penn Jillet the 3 Stooges of the Libertarian Party

3 stooges of Liberatarian PartyIf you haven’t heard, since the election Glenn Beck has embraced the Libertarian way of life.  Down here in Dumbutt he is planning on building a $2 billion walled city to emulate the John Galt Rocky Mountain hide away from Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. A place where all the rich people can go to withdraw from society because they refuse to pay taxes and allow the rest of their countrymen and women die.

Since King of Clowns Ron Paul stepped aside, Glenn Beck is now up at the top of the Libertarian celebrity list. Safe to say that today the top Three Stooges of the Libertarian Party are Penn Jillet, John Stossel and Glenn Beck.

Some Libertarians are up in arms about Beck claiming to be a Libertarian. That he is nothing of the sort and define him as a NEO CON (war monger).  First off Beck is not Jewish, he is a Mormon, and secondly Penn Jillet has been a regular on the Glenn Beck show for many years and is likely the one who helped Beck finally commit to become our Howard Beale version of John Galt.

Truth to tell is Glenn Beck is not crazy or Right-wing enough to be a Libertarian.  Here is a reminder of the LP Platform:

The Libertarian Party opposes taxation in all forms.

Opposes all entitlement programs including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, workman’s comp, unemployment insurance to name a few.

Eliminate all federal subsidies to private corporations, as well as all antitrust laws.

Transfer all government services including public schools and state universities to private ownership.

Sell or give away most public property to private owners.

Would abolish the FCC and allow private ownership of broadcast frequencies.

Calls for reduced IRS regulation and monitoring of tax-exempt churches.

Strongly opposes ALL  gun control.

Opposes all federal funding of abortion and most federal entitlements for women who choose to carry their pregnancies to term, including the child tax credit.

Oppose the involuntary treatment for mental health by health officials or law enforcement.

The last one is the kicker of course. It keeps most Libertarian Party members from being committed to insane asylums.
