John Oliver examines the legal and moral issues surrounding the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, and provides insight into why President Obama has been unable to achieve the closure of the prison. It’s complicated. Over half of the American population want to see Guantanamo kept open. More specifically, they want the prisoners to ‘rot in hell!’ Obligingly, the prison has – at times, closely resembled that southern location. Meanwhile, we are receiving condemnation from such far-flung sources as Sudan, Libya, Iran and – Vladimir Putin for our human rights violations!
