This one is so much fun because gay Zack Fox finds the regularness and personal wit of the bigots themselves. It makes it all a bit of fun.
Sure this is amplified by Westboro Baptist and their Jesus t-shirts, but every homophobic bigot uses one religion or another to rationalize their bigotry and hatred of others. It is the nature of the Beast.
The problem is not religion per se, but too much of it, making magic the primary force of one’s life. For as we all know, too much of anything causes trouble. God himself set aside just one day a week for us to crawl around on our knees to him, one day out of seven days. That’s 14%. And then there is the tithing which He set at 10%. So let’s average that out to 12% and give the magic 12% of our time. Seems reasonable. But then again being reasonable is not the long suit of Primary Christians.
I have recently been using the term GUN ENTHUSIAST to better define that issue. After all, I am GUN OWNER and have no enthusiasm for guns at all other than maybe shooting a duck for dinner every few year. GUN ENTHUSIAST is also a kinder and gentler term than gun nut, or gun loon.
I want to add another phrase to my lexicon to help better define all the confusion there is regarding EVANGELICAL, FUNDAMENTALIST and BORN AGAIN Christians. PRIMARY CHRISTIAN seems to hit the sweet spot without name calling or confusion. It defines well that Jesus is the primary factor in one’s life. While spouses, children, parents, family, friends, work, education are all secondary to the magic.
