Kick! Making Politics Fun

There's gas in dem dare parks! And Texas being what it is, we will get it come Well or High Water. God Dabbit!
The Republican lite Houston Chronicle has written an editorial promoting drilling to get gas under our city parks. Not much to worry about really, after all the rigs will be on private property just outside the parks angling over. So it's okay. A proposal to drill in city parks could provide a cash gusher
Ready for the kicker? This great idea is not only okay with the oil and gas companies, our conservative newspaper, but also okay with the Democratic held Houston City Council and Democratic Mayor.
We are also at the same time in a big fight (guns have not come out yet) with the EPA which is trying to clean up our rotten air, and keep in mind that Houston is the center of the "drill baby drill" movement to lift ban on deep water drilling Even in the face of a shallow 350 foot deep well - no diving - blew 13 workers off it the other day. But not to worry. Down here in Dumbutt we got our guns and Jesus looking out for everyone of us individually. So don't sweat the small stuff. Just increase you caliber size and pray louder and all will be well.
A sign of things to come. Dust off those old hip boots, hold your breath and get to high ground.
So far the Republicans have done well with their worst recession in history. Libraries are closing, teachers are being fired, schools are closing, college educations going out of reach, religious, ethnic and racial intolerance on the rise with the added benefit of saying to hell with the environment! Nothing Republicans hate more than environmentalists, scientists, and smart people. They know very well, as Fox News has proven to them, that the best way to hold on to power is to keep Americans as stupid as possible. Ignorance is power.
"Islam is a very oppressive religion, and the Quran is definitely a dangerous book, we want to send a clear message to radical Muslims, that in the U.S., we are not interested in shariah law and shariah courts. We have a Constitution, and we hope to uphold it." " Terry Jones, pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center.
The Gainesville Christian Book Burning will take place on Sept 11th on church property. Though they have 7,000 facebook fans they expect only a few hundred will show up to burn about 100 Qurans. Religious leaders decry plans for Quran burning
Good to hear Pastor Jones is for the constitution which gives Muslims the constitutional right to and build that Mosque in New York wherever they please. Hear! Here! You go guy! Or is their something wrong with the logic tree there?
Our own little 1938 Nazi Kristallnacht! To make it more American I suppose as it is a day thing, we could call it Kristianday. Because as we all know, all Christians are book burning bigots. They burn the books before they burn the people. Well Catholics and Lutherans anyway...
The proper religious response to all this is well documented in the Bible, an eye for an eye, a book for a book - so let us begin the Bible Burnings! You go first! Let us know how it turns out.
There has always been confusion about what a Libertarian is. This is good example. Also think of Dick Armey who today directs and funds the Tea Party movement, and who yesterday made speeches in congress railing against Head Start, educational help for pre school children at risk. Keep in mind that this Libertarian is promoted by the fair and balanced Fox News.
So if this twat of a man thinks the answer is just for those with no legs to learn to crawl better makes you want to puke, perhaps this little video will ease your pain. Wack a Stossel
Looneytarians
Libertarians are just radical Right-wingers who have not one care for anything or anyone other than themselves. They are mostly asocial computer nerds who have spent the major portion of their lives sitting in their bedrooms wishing someone liked them.
As children they spent most of their time in their rooms thinking about themselves. Ostracized by their peers in adolescence for being geeks, goobs and nobs, they kept to their bedrooms thinking even more about themselves. After years of being shut in their room furnished with only empty crates of Clearasil to sleep on, and nothing to eat but pizzas and Frito Lay products, local health departments kept them quarantined because their acne became so bad they were leaving trails like snails whenever they were let out. Having little to do but fiddle with their computers and talking their macho man gun talk, their teenage rebellion stage became a life long endeavor, and ultimately they became the driving force of the Libertarian Party.
So be careful who you jump in bed with politically, for the Libertarian Party is primarily about anarchy, guns, drugs, the militia movement, an ear bleeding hate of liberals and at its very core, a personal and political selfishness transcending anything witnessed on this Earth since Urg, in cave #25, holding the rest of his tribe at bay with a pointy stick, ate an entire Mammoth all by himself. PLEASE visit our Libertarian page to get a full understanding.
There was no religious, political or cultural war after Army hero Timothy McVeigh did in 168 men, women and children in the name Christianity, the NRA, restoring honor and taking back our country from big government tax and spend not religious or white enough Democrats. Just a rogue extremist is all. No ties to anyone or anything.
Thankfully someone other than me has taken notice of this over the years. It especially came to my mind after the Muslim Army Captain shot things up at Fort Hood last year. One tenth the carnage, ten times the angst.
The formula is simple and foolproof (although those who deploy it so facilely seem to think we are all fools): If the bad act is committed by a member of a group you wish to demonize, attribute it to a community or a religion and not to the individual. But if the bad act is committed by someone whose profile, interests and agendas are uncomfortably close to your own, detach the malefactor from everything that is going on or is in the air (he came from nowhere) and characterize him as a one-off, non-generalizable, sui generis phenomenon.
The only thing more breathtaking than the effrontery of the move is the ease with which so many fall in with it. I guess it’s because both those who perform it and those who eagerly consume it save themselves the trouble of serious thought.
This graph from Gallup shows something turned things around on or about July 25th. From Democrats being 6 points ahead to 10 points behind. A drop of 16 points in less than 30 days. What happened on July 25th or so to steadily lose so much ground?
Economic indicators just do not change things to such a degree so fast. So I am hard pressed to find any issue large enough to precipitate such a sudden drop other that the Mosque controversy which carried us through most of August amplifying the Republican Lie that the President is a Muslim. Those "he's a muslim!" polls show an increase from 11% up to 18% of Americans, and those who believe him to be is a Christian went down from 48% to 34%. The jump seems to be more about American Religious intolerance than anything I can come up with. If you think this drop was precipitated by something else let us know. What else happened at the end of July, and as you can see, again on or about August 25th?
UPDATE: Consensus is that the second late August surge is from Glenn and Sarah's Church Picnic on the Mall. Two airheads babblin on and on about patriotic and Biblical homilies wins is a winner anywhere in America.
But the more important poll I want to bring to your attention I found in this week's TIME magazine. The online version does not present these 3 polls in the article Mr Unpopular, so you have to either take a look at the hard copy or just trust me on this.
There were three polls presented in the article all of which had about the same results. I will use only the last one because I have to format and hand type all this and they are so close it does not matter. The questions were:
Do you approve of the job President Obama is Doing handling Foreign Affairs?
Do you approve of the job President Obama is doing handling the economy?
Do you approve of the way Barack Obama is handling the job of President?
People July 2009 July 2010
Total 56% 49% Seniors 49% 45% Independent 48% 44% White 49% 41% Women 59% 49%
As you can see the biggest change in those Americans who are so mud dumb angry stupid they want to put the Republicans who caused them all their troubles back in the drivers seat, are WHITES and WOMEN. WHITE WIMMIN'!
I am reminded of the Mississippi murder of 14 year old Emmett Till who was said to have whistled at a white woman. The picture below from Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin's recent Church Picnic on the Mall puts the "if" of that controversy to bed, after all, who could resist the lure of Southern Christian White Women? I am all puckered up!
Ken Hoffman is the Houston Chronicle columnist lite. He is featured on the entertainment pages concerned mostly with promoting high calorie fast food, bicycle races, pet adoptions and Little League Baseball.
We had a local Houston team from Pearland make it to the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania where they lost 10 to 0 to a team from Hawaii (who all were required to show birth certificates because of that age thing).
Ken got his snit in a snot over the stadium playing Bruce Springsteen's BORN IN THE USA. A deeply felt belief that an anti war song is not proper for children while a REQUIREMENT from them all to sing a pro war song, The Star Spangled War Song is no problem. A misunderstood song, used wrong again
I am hard pressed to think of anything I have read in the Republican Lite Houston Chronicle that I have disagreed with more. Well other than everything by Jonah Goldberg, Charles Krauthammer and George Will which one or the other graces the editorial pages most everyday.
These kids are forced to listen to a violent pro war song, The Star Spangled War Banner before every game, in every sport, in every stadium in America and are expected to sing along.
How about we make it fair, after all, everyone can agree that War is Hell. So let's not only play the song in every stadium before every game in which the Star Spangled War Song is required, but have the words scroll along the scoreboards so everyone understands the words and can sing along.
"Born down in a dead man's town, the first kick I took was when I hit the ground, you end up like a dog that's been beat too much, till you spend half your life just covering up. I got in a little hometown jam, so they put a rifle in my hands, sent me off to a foreign land, to go and kill the yellow man."
"Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist...It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going." Stephen Hawkings in new book "The Grand Design," co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow.
"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." Albert Einstein, 1954
But Republicans have the proper response to the two smartest people in the world...
You know how the popular American anthem goes...
Smart people got no reason Smart people got no reason Smart people got no reason To live
They got great big brains And little dicks They run around Acting like pricks They got their noses in the air Lying through their teeth With degrees on the wall And sandals on their smarty pants feet
Well, I don't want no smart people Don't want no smart people Don't want no smart people `Round here
