Omar Gonzales climbed the fence and got in the front door of the White House. It is not so much the Secret Service failure on the grounds that is so upsetting, after all, had they filled him full of bullets what a different story this would be. No, the problem is how we all, including the police, the courts, the congress and federal agents are so afraid of the NRA and gun enthusiasts we keep giving them a free ride.
Mr Gonzales, an Iraq War veteran, had been diagnosed with PTSD and was considered by all who knew him nuttier than a fruitcake. He was on a mission to warn the President that “the atmosphere was falling.” He was recently arresting in Virginia and found to have a car full of assault rifles and ammunition. And no bells went off. WHY? GUNAMERICA. No place like it on Earth. Well other than Somalia.
On July 19 Omar Gonzales was stopped for evading arrest and reckless driving. He was found to have a sawed-off shotgun, several assault rifles, with a total of 11 weapons and too much ammo to count in his car. Oh, and a map with the White House circled. Virginia State Police notified the ATF and Secret Service. He was arrested and bailed out the next day with a $5000 bond. Someone with $500.
on August 25 Gonzales was stopped in front of the White House with a hatchet in his waistband, but no action was taken. Like guns, hatchets are a okay to take to the park. Or a bar for that matter.
On September 19th Gonzales climbed the fence and made it into the front door of the White House with a 4″ knife. Two hatchets, a machete and 800 rounds of ammunition were found in his vehicle.
