It is not only a matter of offending Jews, but offending Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and the biggest minority, the Religousless. That’s a new word that needs to be canonized and capitalized.
The story here is not just how religion breeds this kind of insensitivity, this in your face disrespect for others and the rejection of the separation of church and state which this nation was founded upon, but the ugly Republican politics that use it to get the “the stupid white vote.”
Whenever we see politicians expressing their bigotry, ugliness, anger, hatred and stupidity just follow it back a step or two to find that the cause of it is Evangelical Christianity. I am sure there are exceptions, but try as I might I cannot find even one.
