To paraphrase an Oldsmobile ad, It’s not your father’s Tonight Show, but it is a guaranteed good time! Some of Jimmy’s popular segments involve the audience at home who participate via Twitter.
Tonight Jimmy reads his favorite tweets with the hashtag #Misheard Lyrics. Jimmy invited viewers to share the lyrics they’d been singing for ages, only to learn much later how wrong they were! My mind has mercifully blocked out the many nonsensical lyrics I’ve substituted over the years, how about you – we’d love to hear them!
With Jimmy’s amazing vocal ability and the help of the outstanding Roots, these little snippets of silly lyrics become much funnier than they are here in black and white.
One young man was very practical, singing “I wanna rock and roll all night…and part of every day” That is very close to ‘party every day’ – but much more responsible.
For my part,I’m so pleased to know what the long word is at the very beginning of “The Lion King” song…Even if it’s wrong. It’s better than I could dream up.
Of course,some folks sing the wrong lyrics on purpose. John McCain famously changed “Bar-bar-bar-bar-Barbara-Ann” to “Bom-Bom-Bom,-Bom-Bom-Bomb- Iran.” What song will he appropriate to get the message across that we must invade Russia right this minute?!
