The most noteworthy tweet of the year, according to TIME could hardly have been exchanged between two more unlikely correspondents. Sen. John McCain’s tweet to Snooki follows:

Reality ‘star’ Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi used her weekly forum to complain about President Obama’s health care bill, which included a tanning tax, something which hit Snooki where she lives politically.
"I don’t go ‘tanning’ tanning anymore because Obama put a 10% tax on tanning [beds], and I feel like he did that intentionally for us," she said as she applied bronzer. "McCain would never put a 10% tax on tanning. Because he’s pale and he would probably want to be tan." This – I might add, is how elections are decided.
That was all of the prompting Senator McCain needed to fire off the now infamous tweet of support for his new fan Snooki. So far, there are no tweets on record from those who have lost their unemployment benefits and turned to the pale Senator for aid or sympathy.
