John Oliver Looks Back at Roger Aile's Fox News, and Trump's RNC

This photo taken from the John Oliver Show is not a modern version of Poussin’s ‘Rape of the Sabine Women,’ it’s a glimpse of Fox News reporters  gamely struggling with nearly clothesless  full-contact Lingerie Football League,  the kind of journalism Roger Ailes – the heart and sticky fingers of Fox News envisioned in 1996.  Ailes described his then fledgling operation: “We’d like to be premiere journalists. We’d like to restore objectivity where we find it lacking. We just expect to do fine, balanced journalism.”

Now because some of the leggy beauties Ailes tried to help can’t shut their ungrateful yaps, we big adieu to Ailes.  John takes a quick, meaningful look back at the network Ailes lovingly groomed – and er, guided.

John also looks back on “The most apocalyptic thing that has ever happened to the city of Cleveland – and their river has caught fire!” See why Donald Trump truly is a visionary, and how the Republican Party may not have had someone exactly like him in mind when they laid plans to reach out to minorities.
