Hillary Rosen misspoke the other day. She left out the words "stay at home" or "have to work to pay the rent" in her argument that the Romneys are clueless when it comes to living pay check to pay check as most Americans do. Left & Right they piled on Rosen for the words she did not mean to say. The sad thing about this is even though we all know what she meant, the politics demand we pretend it was her intention to attack all stay at home mothers.
The bigger issue – for not only the Romney’s but the Republican Party – is that they believe poor women have no dignity unless they shovel their kids into daycare and go out and get a real job. While on the other hand upper middle class and wealthy women have all the dignity they need as stay at home moms. This can be further defined as poor black "stay at home moms" are lazy and undignified, while white women who can afford to be "stay at home moms" are industrious and dignified.
The problem with all that is those who vote Republican don’t give a rat’s ass about double standards, hypocrisy, and living a lie, after all, that crap is the only thing that makes their ideology viable.
