I should not have been surprised to find that a majority of Americans think torture is okay and that it gets the information we need to have. After all we are the most violent industrialized nation on Earth, both internally and externally. This is why the Republicans are on the stump defending torture, it and the proliferation of hand guns and assault rifles are about they only popular issues they have any longer.
They have also done a really good job of turning the torture issue into a Nancy Pelosi issue. The media took the right-wing bait and is running with it. This is a big win for the Republicans as they know damn well extended discussions and Dept of Justice investigations or Congressional hearing will enlighten Americans to come to the truth of the matter. Torture AND denying Gays the same rights as any other American is unAmerican bullcrap.
