Jon Stewart: Bob Costas on Any Given Gun Day, Fox News goes nuts

bob costas gun day

There is never a time to discuss gun control, or more pointedly, the runaway gun culture in this country.  No where other than Somalia and Afghanistan is there anything like our propensity to guns and violence. Even the recent drug cartel deaths in Mexico [57,000 in 6 years]  is less carnage than what we suffer here in the same amount of time [and counting suicides double it].  Sure there are a few common sense gun control laws that the majority of us agree on, magazine size and under the table sale of 40% of guns at gun shows and back rooms, but it is the gun culture than needs to be addressed before we can expect any change.

Once one realizes that these pieces of steel – as are our execution chambers and wars – are  extensions of our violent natures one can see this issue more clearly than those sore afraid of commies, Black helicopters, Black men, the United Nations, robbers and their shadows. No nation is more afraid of getting shot than we are. Because? We now have more guns than people in this country shooting things up hither and yon. Even schools and going to the movies or work is not safe. It's the craziest thing about us, ask anyone from somewhere else.

Little can be done about it with the NRA, FOX News, talk radio and the Republican Party beating their drums of paranoia and violence. My suggestion is that those who know better MAN UP  like Bob Costas and Mayor Bloomberg whenever the gun violence occurs, immediately. 20 round magazines for handguns should have been made illegal the day after Gabby Giffords was shot at that mall in Phoenix. What possible purpose is a 20 round clip for a handgun or a 100 round clip for a rifle OTHER THAN shooting down innocent people? Answer… NONE. ZERO. ZIP. NADA. NAUGHT.

With that said… The other day a father killed his 7 year old son outside a gun store in Pennsylvania. Had he not had a hand gun his son would be alive right now. Which I am sure that father now understands all too well. In the father's defense, he was at the GUN FUN store to sell the gun, not buy one.
