Jon Stewart interview Tea Party Senator Rand Paul

Too kindly, Jon Stewart finds the flaw in Tea Party/Libertarian ideology. That those KIND OF PEOPLE will admit that in the PAST government and government regulation made our country a pleasant place to live, but that no longer applies to either the present or future. We have already accomplished our regulatory business and nothing more needs to be done.

This is like saying we should stop producing movies, television shows and music because there is nothing new under the Sun.

Also we get to the issue of Republicans refusing SHARED sacrifice to deal with the debt, the deficit, our wars and taxation in general.

They fall back on the old canard of using percentage of the total tax burden in relation to class income RATHER THAN the reality of the monetary burden being carried by the middle class, and the suffering directed at the working poor and poor – most of whom are women and children.

But if we do not give the wealthy, the top corporations and Republican governors and legislatures what they want – which is no taxes, no regulations and NO UNIONS, they will threaten to lay everyone off and move to Mexico, China or Utah. That is called EXTORTION.

What is the one word we hear most often in the BUDGET CUTTING dialogue over the past month?

MEDICAID.

The first thing Republicans want to do is take health care away from the poor WHILE they give more tax cuts to the wealthy. And we go along with them, we vote for them because their soundbite propaganda works on those who shoot first and think later.

Of course Republicans are all fine Christian people who would never want to hurt poor people – no matter what color or religion they happen to be. Rather it is just that they understand that if they take away everything – even the right to live –  from the lower strata of society those misguided and lazy people will have no choice but to MAGICALLY get jobs with full health care benefits. And if not, too bad…
