This is the issue that should put an end to the Republican party as we know it today. Sununu is a MODERATE Republican, who lost his Senate seat last year because he was a MODERATE Republican in the Northeast who pushed the MODERATE Republican issues of less government, lower taxes for the wealthy, and an unregulated financial system. [Oh and spending as much on Iraq as on the stimulus bill without a thought] The very things that got is us into this mess in the first place.
It seems to me these voices of MODERATION are missing something their hardcore conservative counterparts understand so well. If you want average Americans to accept those three basic MODERATE tenets of the GOP – less taxes, less government and less regulation – you have to first dumb then down with religion and give them free assault rifles in the breakfast cereal.
