On the secession issue I found this quote from a Gov Rick Perry spokeswoman who explained the Governor was not involved in the Texas secession petition. It does not matter the who or even the when of this, but it sure alerted me on how well the GOP propaganda machine is so fine tuned.
“Now more than ever our country needs strong leadership from states like Texas. We cannot allow Washington’s tax and spend, one-size-fits-all mindset to jeopardize our children’s future, undermine our personal liberties and drive our nation down a dangerous path to greater dependence of government.”
Take the word TEXAS out of that and there we have word for word what Republican politicians and conservative pundits have repeated literally BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF TIMES over the past 4 years. And you know, it was not RAPE or ABORTION or too Goofy Mitt that swung this election. It was that Hispanics, African-Americans, Asians and women want more government in their lives. In most of their lives the government is all that lies between them and living under a bridge. Something that Republican ideology cannot relate to or change. And coming on board for the Dream Act, or putting a lid on their Evangelical troglodytes will not fix things for them. They are stuck in their own heady muck.
