As you know, the U.S. government already spends unimaginable sums to provide military and humanitarian assistance throughout the world. Of course we’d love to help everyone. We really, really would! If we could stomp out genocide and disease, or send them all some food, we’d be happy to do so, if we weren’t spread so darned thin.
There is so much misery, and just so many resources to be distributed. That is why a sophisticated decision making process must be put in place to determine where we can best intervene with success.
